Apple TV 4K Netflix No Video

Apple TV 4k, Netflix: Audio only, no Video. restored ATV to factory, reinstalled NF app, cable is compliant, AVR settings and TV settings ok as no issue in other apps. Worked fine until today. OS 11.1. everything has been reset, reinstalled, rebooted, and reconnected. Any ideas? NF works fine through the app on the TV as well as the app on the cable box.

The only thing I can add to this conversation is that Netflix and the new TV 4K got along fine for a couple of weeks, we had no issues. Suddenly several days ago after no changes by us (though possible TV 4K update because it's set to auto-update) Netflix video disappeared. Still have audio and sub-titles, but the main picture is black.

As others are reporting, every other app source (YouTube, Crackle, TED, etc.) works fine. Our television is a Sony Bravia 1080p, not 4K.

Sony OLED TV directly connected to Apple TV. I have had the issue with the Netflix and Boomerang apps; restarting Apple TV always provides temporary fix. I regularly use another app called Britbox the most on the Apple TV to watch older content from the 1980s (4:3 format, obviously not HD) and have never, ever, had the problem with this content.

Well today was the first time I have tried the latest beta since updating last night and what had been working with last weeks update is broken again. I honestly thought we were in the clear but that does not seem to be the case. Of course I allowed my Apple TV to sleep again, so now I will turn off the sleep and see if this gets me back to where I was last week. It seems I would have to running beta software on my phone to be able to report a problem with the beta software for the Apple TV. I can’t believe a smart company lie Apple is having so much trouble resolving this issue. At this point I am seriously thinking about getting rid of the Apple TV and going to either a Google, Amazon or Roku 4K dongle, that is considerably cheaper and probably works just fine. Hope Apple is listening.

I just spoke with someone from Apple and they seemed unaware of any issue as usual, but I was given the web address www.apple.com/feedback for those of you who would like to report this problem directly. I have also set up a time with the Genius Bar to evaluate the Apple TV. Whether they find anything or not I plan on having them replace it with a new one. Maybe just maybe they have a quality issue with some of the Apple TVs. If I try a new one and still have the same issue it must be a software issue which is what I believe to still be the main issue here anyway.

I went to the Apple Genuis bar today. They were unaware of this particular problem. No diagnostics were ever run. Another beta update was available so we did the update. The only other thing they did was a complete device restore. They also ordered me another 4K. Since I have been home I set the device to automatically sleep again, then turned everything off. When I turned everything back on hours later Netflix played just fine. So now I have two variables, the restore and the latest beta update that may have resolved the problem. I also have not had an overnight time where the apple was asleep for more than 12 hours. Tomorrow will be the real test. Has anyone else done a restore? If tomorrow I have the problem then I know neither variable worked. If tomorrow all is well I will still not know which variable fixed the problem.

As of tvOS 11.2.5 Beta 5, my ATV4K still has this issue on my Sony X800D using Apple's Belkin HDMI cable. I've tried resetting to factory settings twice but the problem reappeared so it didn't seem to work. I took the ATV4K to the Genius Bar but couldn't reproduce the issue on their display setup. So they couldn't help me and didn't order me a replacement either. I was also contacted through phone by an Apple rep and he instructed me run diagnostics and send him some logs from my device.

I will experiment with tvOS 11.2.5 Beta 6 (released today) and see if persists but I'm not holding my breath. As of right now though I've been using the ATV 4K on a non 4K LG tv and it's been working just fine. The Sony TV is the issue here.

I have a Sony Bravia and have not done anything to it, but did have the Apple TV restored to factory settings and the latest beta update done yesterday. Everything has been off overnight, Apple TV set to sleep and and all is working well today when everything was turned on. I was on my Tivo input when I turned off the TV. Some were saying they were not having issues if the TV was turned off while switched to the Apple TV. I’m going to have to figure either ther the restore or beta update was the fix for me.
