Finally! I found another thread... windows 10 itunes login fails (I'm on Win 7 but doesn't matter) that suggested opening in safe mode (Ctrl-Shift click on iTunes icon), which kind of (didn't) work BUT, after clicking cancel to all the log in prompts it did allow me to go to 'Account/Sign Out' and sign out of my account. I then logged back in and it seems to work (so far)

I had previously removed iTunes as per dingerk's post and removed any visual plug ins prior to this so hopefully this may help you.

If iTunes is apparently installed correctly try the following in turn until iTunes opens/closes/reopens/connects to the store normally:

  • Remove any SD card that might be in a card reader.
  • Exit the BTTray.exe Bluetooth utility if installed.
  • Locate the shortcut for iTunes, right-click on it, and select Run as administrator. Doing this once may fix certain launch issues. Some users were finding that with the 12.6.1.25 build, for example, they had to use this method every time and modified the shortcut accordingly.
  • Try holding ctrl+shift as you launch iTunes so it opens in safe-mode. Again doing this once may sometimes help.
  • Try disconnecting your computer from the Internet before running iTunes.
  • Delete the iTunes shortcuts from the start menu, desktop, task bar, or similar, then repair iTunes from the programs and features control panel.
  • Try Fix unexpected quits or launch issues in iTunes for Windows - Apple Support and test the behaviour in a different user profile or with a different library. If the problem only exists in your profile it may be possible to delete some of the iTunes preference files which it would seem that iTunes may be choking on. We can go into details later if the issue is limited to your own profile.
  • Temporarily disable any non-Microsoft anti-virus and see if that has any impact on the behaviour.
  • See the second box in Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for detailed tear down and rebuild advice. Disable any non-Microsoft anti-virus software when reinstalling and run the installer as the administrator.
  • Or see the iTunes installers section of the troubleshooting tip and reinstall the last version that worked correctly for you. Note that iTunes 12.6.3.6 is the minimum version required for devices running iOS 11.

Hi,

I fixed mine by going to task manager (ctrl, alt, delete). I ended "itunes" within the task manager list. After, I closed my task manager box. Then, I turned off my WiFi on my pc, waited 30 seconds, reconnected WiFi.

After allowing WiFi to fully connect, I pulled up iTunes with no problems/flashing ceased. Logged in :)

Hopefully, this may work for some of you ~

After 90 minutes on phone with apple support, this it what finally worked:

Uninstall all these programs in this order:

itunes

apple software update

apple mobile device

bonjour

apple application support 32b

apple application support 64b

restart pc

open browser window to itunes.com and download

itunes takes a long, long, long time to install - wait for the icon on desktop

restart again after installed

What worked for me was clicking cancel through around 15 password input windows till they stopped. Then signing out from the Account Menu. After that I could log-in with the password screen. However, now I have to go to the Accounts menu and sign-out before closing. If not I get the flashing Password window when I input my password. To solve, shut down iTunes using Control Panel then restart, click through all the screens and log out then sign in with password.

Of note, when i sign out now, i get a warning message that an application is using the iTunes scripting module and that will be shut down if I quit, or I can wait 15 seconds and it will shut it down automatically. Makes me wonder what is using the scripting module.

XML was confirmed as enabled prior to first attempt to close iTunes. My steps where per this thread and as listed below. Since my message I signed in and out a few more times and the message stopped popping up. Hopefully it is no longer an issue, time will tell. If not, I suspect it was an iTunes component that was updating to the remote database.

Steps followed:

1) removed iTunes and related programs in order listed at top of this thread.

2) rebooted to finish clearing system of iTunes.

3) re-installed iTunes but did NOT open iTunes when prompted at end of install.

4) rebooted to finish installing iTunes (as recommended in this thread)

5) opened iTunes cleared log-in window pop-ups by canceling and not entering password till pop-ups stop, checked if XML was enabled. It was. Closed iTunes.

6) opened iTunes and entered password in log-in pop-up which had my username pre-filled. got flashing window again.

7) Shut down iTunes with Control Panel

8) opened iTunes, cleared pop-ups, from Menu - Accounts clicked "sign out". Got error message about application using iTunes scripting module along the way, and finished signing out anyway.

9) from Menu - Accounts clicked "sign in". password pop-up appeared without username pre-filled. Input username and password. Log in finally successful.

10) closed iTunes and re-opened iTunes at password pop-up with username prefilled, entered password and got flashing.

11) repeat steps 7-9 and successfully logged in. Signed out before shutting down. Got error message about application using iTunes scripting module along the way, and signed out anyway.

12) loaded iTunes again. Got sign-in pop-up without usename. Logged in with username and password.

13) Signed out of iTunes, then closed iTunes and got error message about module in use.

14) Re-opened iTunes. Log-in pop-up without username prefilled, entered username and password and successfully logged in.

15) Repeated steps 11-14 successfully a couple times.

Conclusion_must sign-out before closing iTunes.

After a few more cycles the error message about application using iTunes scripting module stopped occurring. Hopefully that is resolved as well.

You can't believe what exactly happened to me. After I login, I was getting that flashing window in a loop, so I went in Task Manager and killed the iTunes. I then opened the iTunes, and login windows showed up, clicked on X but it came back in a few seconds and so on.... I then noticed there was a orange flashing button at the top right hand corner. When I clicked on it, there were two option items, and when you mouse over, it had a option to kill it. Once I killed both the flashing window went did not showed up. I then went in Account menu and Signed out and then signed back again and voila! NO MORE FLASHING WINDOW! gone for good! Just to ensure, I closed the iTunes and reopened it and yes, no more annoying flashing window!

HOPE, THIS HELPS SOMEONE! By the way, I have WINDOWS 10 PRO 64bit iTunes installed.😁

I fixed this issue by adapting liv0123's method. I ended iTunes with Task Manager, then disconnected my computer from the Internet altogether. iTunes was able to open since it wasn't trying to log into my account. With the computer still disconnected from the Internet, I signed out of my account.

I was then able to reconnect to the Internet and log into my account the normal way.

This just happened to me too after installing the latest version of iTunes on Windows 10 1803. What fixed it for was to turn off ALL network connections (laptop and Ethernet). Now iTunes comes up fine and I can enter my credentials. When I sign out and turn the network back on, I can now re-open itunes and sign in again just fine. However, iTunes made me reauthorize my computer.

iTunes flashing password panel. Cannot login because of this. Already tried re-install, repair. Issue remain.
