Finally! I found another thread... windows 10 itunes login fails (I'm on Win 7 but doesn't matter) that suggested opening in safe mode (Ctrl-Shift click on iTunes icon), which kind of (didn't) work BUT, after clicking cancel to all the log in prompts it did allow me to go to 'Account/Sign Out' and sign out of my account. I then logged back in and it seems to work (so far)

I had previously removed iTunes as per dingerk's post and removed any visual plug ins prior to this so hopefully this may help you.

After 90 minutes on phone with apple support, this it what finally worked:


Uninstall all these programs in this order:

itunes

apple software update

apple mobile device

bonjour

apple application support 32b

apple application support 64b


restart pc

open browser window to itunes.com and download

itunes takes a long, long, long time to install - wait for the icon on desktop

restart again after installed
