Bluetooth issues with iPhone X?

Odds are your bluetooth device was connected to your previous phone. Here is what I did to correct this problem.
On your old phone, go to it's settings and go to bluetooth and disconnect the device or forget the device.
Consult the owners manual of the device you're trying to connect, or look it up on the internet to get the instructions for that device to pair with bluetooth.
Follow the instructions on how to pair that specific device. Some want you to have your iPhone X turned on and searching for bluetooth devices, and some do not, so follow that manufacturers directions as if it is a brand new device that has not been paired yet.
This worked for me, and all is good in my iPhone X world now.
Agreed... it is a draconian process. But iCloud has made it a little easier on the passwords...
I had the same problem - T-Mobile had forwarded the Voicemail through their service. I changed it to a different voicemail carrier by dialing *004*<number># to forward to a voicemail. This works on T-Mobile, I don't know if that would work on Verizon.
I just googled and it looks like *73 resets call forwarding on Verizon - perhaps try that.
I've also done a full reset and setup as new, but issue remains. Even my Apple AirPods are not dropping the connection but sometimes the sound cracks. Never happened with my iPhone 6 Plus.
It's really frustrating that our new iPhone X that cost over 1000 USD can't handle normal Bluetooth connection and fully support Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP)
Today I visited our local Mazda dealer to see if Mazda knew anything, and they just confirmed that the customers that are complaining about bad sound/cracking sound/disconnecting is the iPhone users.
Since Tuesday, I've been putting more than 20 hours with:
Don't forget that when you are an Apple Watch user, everything gets even more complicated 😟
I have spent more time on this over the last two weeks than its worth. I have visited the "genius bar" twice, received a replacement phone, found out that Verizon set up my phone under a cell plan that was designed for an iphone 7, backed up all of my phones content on the cloud, and got confirmation of it from the phone, only to find out the next day once it was replaced by a new one, that all of my data was not backed up - all gone. The last step after Apple was sure they fixed the problem with getting me on the correct cell plan and that didn't work, I updated the firmware in my BMW 535 and it still doesn't work. I left Apply 5 years ago because of crap like this, I never had these kind of issues using a Samsung, and now that I have had the phone for more than 14 days I an stuck with it. I am SO ******!!
Having read all the issues on so many different platforns I think time is overdue for Apple to seriously give feedback to affected customers and irgebtly solve the problem.
As we ** jot talk about a 100 dollar gadget bit a 1500 dollar business phone this shouldn‘t have happened but now at least eequires a solution with high priority.
O hear your point bit can‘t take the time and reinstall and configure 100s of apps again, that will take weeks. In rhis case I go back to the 7 plus.
The banana tactics where the product matures on customer‘s side after purchase is new for Apple, unfortunately
i started my iphone x as a new phone since day 1.. and i also suffer from the bluetooth issues.. maybe it affects are lot more ppl but only a small percentage notices it. whenever my bluetooth connects to the car i'll get a notification on the screen on my mercedes so i know it's connecting and disconnecting non stop. other issues i have with the iphone x.. sometimes when the facial recognition doesn't work.. the passcode prompt comes up.. except my stupid number pad is shifted down for whatever reason? so the last row of digit i can't even press.. it'll work if i turn off the screen turn it back on again.. but sometimes it doesn't.. sorry when i'm paying $1500+ for a phone i can live with 1 or 2 small issue that quickly gets rectify.. but right now it doesn't even seem apple is even acknowledging the problem..
My iPhone X has worked flawlessly with BT in my 2011 Toyota as well as a few new rental cars.
Issues like this almost always turn out to be BT problems the auto makers solve; if you are having issues connecting to a watch it may indeed be an issue with your particular phone or watch.
Hi Alan,
Ok, so we are essentially at the same point. Just took me a while to get here :-) I first tried by restoring from backup and that ended up being a multi-week nightmare.
I have my Automatic OBD-II dongle attached now - that seems to work fine now that I used iTunes to reset and then setup as new.
Completely agreed on 'BTW 2' - would love to have Car Play... and better integration with the center-right display. I found a way to add car play - but it requires opening up the PCM - not to mention just taking out the PCM requires disassembly the center console and air vents. I may decide to do that at some point - definitely not till after the CPO Warranty expires... Its also sad that one can't just replace the PCM with an aftermarket device..
BTW 3 - the only items i wish I had is Car Play and Adaptive Cruise... and that Waze supported Car Play... but that is another thread... :-)
So deleting my old phone name & giving the iPX a new paired name seems to stop the BT drops in my car. Yay!
However, Waze nav app's sound does not go out the car's speaker in both Media or Radio setting.
This did NOT occurred on my prior iP6S+.
So far have not been able to isolate this anyone else on the web.
Update after iOS 11.2: BT dropping still remains. I have deleted the pairing and done a new one, but the problem remains. As I was gathering Sys Diagnotics to the Senior Support, I’ve giving then for both iOS 11.1.2 and iOS 11.2
Let’s hope that they find the root cause and solves it for the next update.
I had a devil of a time getting bluetooth to sync with my SkullCandy wireless headphones, but finally succeeded. I have had no luck, however, getting the X to _consistently_ sync with my Subaru Forester. It will pair, but when I turn the car off and back on again, my X can't be found and I have to pair it with the Forester to get it to work again. I have a pal who has paid a bundle for a set of hearing aids that work with the X and the X will simply not recognize them. Clearly Apple dropped the ball on bluetooth implementation in the iPhone X.
Not to but into your thread, but on my Forester, it required that I delete the old pairing (iPHone 6, worked perfectly) and set up a new pairing with the iPhone X. Did so, but between restarts of the vehicle, the iPhone X and Forester do not recognize one another: radio displays something like <No BT device present>.
Hey, what OBD II you’re using? I can’t connect to my BT1a in my Lotus, never had problems with the 6s. The car stereo/ hands free no problems. Pandora is a battle (even without connecting to anything).
I am having an issue where my headphones say they’re connected, but I hear nothing and I cannot press play on Pandora. If headphones are disconnected, or I use non-wireless headphones everything works fine.... it’s clearly an iPhone X Bluetooth issue. Everything worked great on my 6s two days ago...
