Odds are your bluetooth device was connected to your previous phone. Here is what I did to correct this problem.

On your old phone, go to it's settings and go to bluetooth and disconnect the device or forget the device.

Consult the owners manual of the device you're trying to connect, or look it up on the internet to get the instructions for that device to pair with bluetooth.

Follow the instructions on how to pair that specific device. Some want you to have your iPhone X turned on and searching for bluetooth devices, and some do not, so follow that manufacturers directions as if it is a brand new device that has not been paired yet.

This worked for me, and all is good in my iPhone X world now.

My iPhone X will continue to drop connection to my mercedes Bluetooth and even sometime not re-connect until I select the phone in the device list again.

I previously had no issue with my iPhone 6 holding the connection continuously and have deleted this device from the list of connectable devices as advised on this thread, however this issue is still present and occurs daily.

Becoming really annoying now.....

I had previously the iPhone 7plus and BT connectivity was perfect.

After pairing a BT hands free and entering my car (also having BT) both devices worked seamlessly without issues !!

Now with iPhone X with same devices BT keeping connecting disconnecting all the time .

Therefore I’m very much afraid that this is a hardware issue and not a software issue .

In conclusion +1000$ smartphone with less capabilities Vs ip7 plus.

I finally got this to work, I deleted my old phone and started over however the music on my phone wouldn’t play in the car. I realized I didn’t delete the old portable device. I deleted the old portable device and registered the new so both device addresses on the phone and portable player matched and all good. So this was a user error on my part. Not a Apple issue. Thank you

I'm having the same issue in my car (2014 Ford Fusion). It will play the audio through the phone for no reason but still show it connected by BT.

Even though it is connected by BT, many applications have a selector where you can select how audio is redirected; you might want to check that.

For example, Waze will default to USB audio if you are connected to a car via USB and the USB connection can handle audio, even if the last time you used it you selected BT audio.

I have the same issue. Car is a Subaru Outback 2012, factory radio with bluetooth. iPhone X with 11.2 OS. Music is working, but telephone calls doesn't. My Bose SoundLink Revolve Plus is the same. It drops the bluetooth connection when somebody calls me, then connects again for 10 seconds after a while.

I hope the problem will fixed with the next iOS update soon....

Of course I contacted Apple Support on the phone. Still no solution.

They recommended 2 ways to try:

1. Delete the bluetooth connection between the car and the phone, then reset all network settings. -> didn't work.

2. Restore the phone (after doing backup) and set up the blank phone with the cars bluetooth connection. -> didn't tried yet.

Anybody tried the solution 2 already?

iPhone X WILL NOT PAIR with any Bluetooth device. I spent three hours on chat with Sr. Engineers today, followed all their instructions, deleted and restored the OS, restarted the phone, deleted all devices and tried to re-pair them, and still nothing connects. Apple, we need a fix for this NOW! I've had absolutely NO connection problems with my iPhone 6+. This is absolutely unacceptable.

Tried them all. Even stood on my head and patted by stomach while singing "All I Want for Christmas is an iPhone that Works." NOTHING WORKS. Spent three hours on chat today, escalated to three different Apple senior engineers, did everything they asked (restart, reinstall software, delete all prior BT devices, wipe all network settings, etc. etc. etc.)

NOTHING WORKS. This is totally unacceptable for a phone that exceeds $1100 in price.
