My Apple Watch and my Bose wireless headphones won't connect.
iPhone X, iOS 11.1
yes - I tried to re-pair all my devices. My phone is not discovering the devices. Just cycles. I can see it discovering other devices (none of mine)....I have powered it off several times as well to restart. Is there a setting I need to click that I am unaware of? I didnt have this problem with any other phone.
Same problem here too with my Porsche PCM. If I take a call or switch to satellite and then try to go back to Bluetooth for music I hear nothing. The song indicates on the car that it playing, but no volume. I have to power down the phone and then back on to get it to work.
There should be a fix for this by now. It’s been a known problem since the phone came out. Too expensive of a phone for this to happen. Way to go Apple.....pay attention!
This does not appear to be a universal problem. I'm not having any issues whatsoever with Bluetooth connectivity on my iPhone X. I also know several others with iPhone X who are having none of the issues you and the others who have posted here are having. Given this does not appear to be a universal issue, I wouldn't sit back and wait for an iOS update. Instead, I would make an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar and have them run diagnostics on your phone.
My problems seem to focus on a combination of -
iPhoneX
Porsche PCM 3.1
Automatic OBDII BT dongle
Phone plugged into USB to PCM3.1
If I don’t plug the phone in things seem to work better. Or if I unpair Automatic it seems to work better.
One question I have for those having the problem and those not having the problem - which carrier are you using? I believe the Verizon/Sprint phones use a different radio module.
I am on T-Mobile.
Pax.
Same issues with my AirPods. Drop out one side only then dropped connection. Tried the forget this devise method and repaired, issues continued. Did a soft reset, then a connect to in Bluetooth, and then used the control center and selected and my AirPods manually, Its now seems to be working fine, volume improved, clarity improve, and it is not dropping connection.
When the iPhone X drops the connection, try going into the control center (swipe down from upper right side). In the music section (upper right side of control center) select the very corner BT symbol, and select the car or the iPhone here. Been having similar issues in my Toyota the initial drop and I do the manual select it stays on.
I can’t connect to any of my Bluetooth devices except for my Apple Watch. Can’t connect to my car or my Bose Soundtouch speaker system. It doesn’t show any of them even available for me to connect to.
Cannot stream music without skipping when also paired with the car's hands free phone. If I unpair the HFP, music streaming works without problem. Problem started with iPhone X, this is clearly a problem with iPhone X and software. I asked apple, they told me to update the car 🙂
I have been working with the Apple team testing the iPhone X and trouble shooting. I have sent my logs for it to be reviewed.
While we were testing we found the following worked.
In your car forget all Bluetooth devices. ALL.
on your iPhone make sure you change the name to anything other than “iPhone” or the old name that was paired to the car.
Pair the device back to the car. And all works great now.
Hope this helps guys.
Let me know if you have any questions.
I agree with you. Rbrylawski. Changing the name of the device always works. But for some reason that wasn’t the fact before .1 update push. It seems to work now. At least now we can pin point where the issue is.
Been working with Apple Support as well. Tried the above - didn't help.
My problem(s) seem to be a bit more complex.
iPhone X paired to Car's PCM - using BT input - works fine
iPhone X paired to Car's PCM - using iPod input (plugged into USB) - works ok *.
When things really fall apart is when I pair my Automatic OBDII -and- have the iPhone X plugged into USB.
"*" - just today I did notice one BT drop from my iPhone connection.
I have an iPhone X and an iPhone 6s (work phone)
Both are connected to my Bose wireless headphones and work flawlessly at the same time. I listen to Pandora from the X and can take a call from the 6s. No problems with Bose. However, I have a Monster Bluetooth speaker that doesn’t like the X at all. It plays choppy.
I have iphone x, and my wife has on. We tryd to connect both to mercedes w212. We could connect. One was called iphone the other with the name of my wife.by both we lost connection.we made a reset with mercdes comand system and with the phone. Same problem, it is loosing connection allways log in log out. Same problems discussed here in germany with other cars like bmw and audi. My iphone 7 plus worked perfect.so iam sur it is a problem of the x please help
regards andreas
Garry - FWIW my setup is quite similar to yours. In the car I have the iPhone X paired with PCM as well as a BadElf Pro GPS module. I see Bluetooth disconnects on both. I also plug in a lightning-USB adapter and a Audioquest Firefly Red DAC for aux out.
I too thought that the more complex setup, which worked fine with my iphone6, was causing the problems. However even when unpairing the GPS device and not plugging in the USB adapter, I don’t see any change with the disconnects to PCM - it continues to disconnect/reconnect every few minutes.
My bluetooths keep disconnecting and reconnecting ever since I've gotten my iPhone X. For another reason, I did a complete reset and this did nothing to fix it. It's driving me crazy. I rarely had this problem with my 7. I wear 2 bluetooths, one to listen to audiobooks (an LG Tone) and the other (a Plantronics Voyager) to talk on. They keep disconnecting and so my phone call will drop from the voyager and appear on the LG or Vice Versa with the book. Even when I'm not using them, they disconnect constantly. at least 30+ times a day!!!

What kind of wireless headset? Did you turn off Bluetooth on the 5s, put the headphones in pairing mode then attempt to connect to your X?
This should become a sticky deggie. I've suggested this so many times to people as they often don't understand that if their headphones are paired with one iPhone and then they try to pair them with another iPhone, especially if the first phone is nearby and on, they won't get the headphones to pair with the new phone. Most headphones on the market can only be paired with one device.
