Odds are your bluetooth device was connected to your previous phone. Here is what I did to correct this problem.
On your old phone, go to it's settings and go to bluetooth and disconnect the device or forget the device.
Consult the owners manual of the device you're trying to connect, or look it up on the internet to get the instructions for that device to pair with bluetooth.
Follow the instructions on how to pair that specific device. Some want you to have your iPhone X turned on and searching for bluetooth devices, and some do not, so follow that manufacturers directions as if it is a brand new device that has not been paired yet.
This worked for me, and all is good in my iPhone X world now.
I had an issue once and a Senior MB Tech had me rename the phone and all my woes went away. Maybe the car is looking for the electronic signature of the device it used to connect to under that name and gets confused?
Tried everything. Make sure that you delete old phone from car and cell phone. Completely unpair new phone and pair again. Then power off and then on. Took to dealer and they tested a few phones and found that my pairing was gone it was the phone. Genius Bar then said no way. So this was 3 weeks of running around and talking to apple support who really don’t know the phone well at this point.
Bottom line as a quick fix if you need to make a call toggle Bluetooth on your phone off then on. It will allow you one call before it goes out again
My carrier is shipping me a new phone after I told them this exhausting saga. Hopefully new one will work. Good luck
Whining about it here won't get you a solution. Instead, make an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar and let them run diagnostics on your phone. If the Bluetooth receiver isn't working correctly, they'll replace your phone.
I have flawless Bluetooth connections with two iPhone X's. You should too. Everyone who is complaining here should schedule an appointment.
This is not a universal issue that's for sure. Neither of our two iPX phones have any issues whatsoever pairing with Bluetooth devices. No one in my office with an iPX is having any issues. None of my friends who have iPX are having any issues. No offense, but 99% of Bluetooth issues are user caused. Most of the time an earpiece as you call them are paired to other devices, or not being paired to the manufacturer process as defined in the user manual, which ultimately squashes the pairing with a new phone.
Actually, these issues are not new, not isolated to iPhone X, or 8, or 7 or most other iterations of iPhone. With every new launch a certain percentage of people experience issues, and mostly because they've brought something over from their backups. This happens to Android as well. The only thing that does work is to start all over, even if it's painful. Would you rather suffer with issues for the life of the phone or do something to make your life better? There's likely not going to be an update that will magically make things better.
I'm working with the engineers and my car manufacture but no solution is yet in place. Please report your issue as well to Apple Support, everyone that has this issue needs to report it. This has also Apple Senior Level informed me.
It isn't incorrect, it just isn't working in your case. I would suspect you have a hardware error if it isn't connecting to all those devices and assuming those devices aren't auto connecting to some other device. Make a Genius Bar appointment at your nearest Apple Store.

I have the same issue. Car is a Subaru Outback 2012, factory radio with bluetooth. iPhone X with 11.2 OS. Music is working, but telephone calls doesn't. My Bose SoundLink Revolve Plus is the same. It drops the bluetooth connection when somebody calls me, then connects again for 10 seconds after a while.
I hope the problem will fixed with the next iOS update soon....
Don't sit and wait for some magical update, which may or may address your issues. Your phone is new. Contact Apple directly and let them know you're having issues. They can't fix what they don't know is not working. AND with all the cars and systems out there, it's not possible for Apple to build anything that is 100% going to work with everything made, especially systems that are now older, like a 2012 system. It might require a Subaru update as well.
If you suspect that, take it in to your local Apple Store or servicer for diagnosis and repair/replacement.
If it really connects to nothing, it will be obvious from their tests and the issue can be addressed.
Go to restrictions and check there or to location and look around there, something else may b connection unknowingly through the location settings, go through each one and see what all is on or off. You may have to reset that in General in network settings as well.
Make an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar. I have zero issues with Bluetooth connectivity and you shouldn't have an issue either, so have Apple check out your phone.
Please report to Apple by opening a support ticket. We need to hold the pressure up on this issue.
If you haven't reported it to Apple, please do.
Please report it to Apple by calling them and speak to the Senior support.
Unless it's an issue with that specific speaker, I still think something's amiss. I've had absolutely no issue connecting anything Bluetooth with my iPhone X. Since your phone is brand new, you can get Technical Support on a call and see if they can help you troubleshoot this.
