yes - I tried to re-pair all my devices. My phone is not discovering the devices. Just cycles. I can see it discovering other devices (none of mine)....I have powered it off several times as well to restart. Is there a setting I need to click that I am unaware of? I didnt have this problem with any other phone.

Have raised this with support.

After following steps of disconnecting the Bluetooth device to the car and removing previous connections of old phones , I still had the issue. I was advised to ‘force reset’ my iPhone X after doing the above again.

Force reset process

Tap volume up button, then quickly tap volume down button, the press and hold power button until Apple logo comes on screen.

After completing these steps, phone connected and the stayed connected to my vehicle.....seems fixed now, after 2 journeys the phone stayed connected to vehicle.

Worth a try for some with the same issue.

I’ve been having this same issue. I have a new iPhone X and any device I try to connect to via Bluetooth (that I have previously connected to) doesn’t even show as a detected device. This happens for EVERY device I had connected to on my old iPhone 6. I know my phone isn’t the problem as I can detect and connect to other devices that are new to my phone.

My wife bought a new iPhone 8 about a week after I got my X and she is having exactly the same issue - I’m assuming this a problem with the latest iOS update(s).

Apple support have no answer to this issue and I have now either spoken to them on the phone, emailed or done a ‘chat’ with them on multiple occasions for up to an hour at a time.

Not good.

I had previously the iPhone 7plus and BT connectivity was perfect.

After pairing a BT hands free and entering my car (also having BT) both devices worked seamlessly without issues !!

Now with iPhone X with same devices BT keeping connecting disconnecting all the time .

Therefore I’m very much afraid that this is a hardware issue and not a software issue .

In conclusion +1000$ smartphone with less capabilities Vs ip7 plus.

I'm having the same issue in my car (2014 Ford Fusion). It will play the audio through the phone for no reason but still show it connected by BT. I have to make a call just to get the audio playing back through the speakers. Never had any issues with older phones in the same car. Also had bluetooth audio issues with the same iPhone X in a rental car. I know who the culprit is.

I finally got this to work, I deleted my old phone and started over however the music on my phone wouldn’t play in the car. I realized I didn’t delete the old portable device. I deleted the old portable device and registered the new so both device addresses on the phone and portable player matched and all good. So this was a user error on my part. Not a Apple issue. Thank you

I’m having a similar issue. My 7 plus worked flawlessly. My X has several variations. If I restart my phone, my car and my Jabra connect and remain connected until I turn my Jabra off or leave my car. Once I break the connection, I don’t have problems reconnecting, but I do have problems maintaining connection. On my Jabra audio comes in extremely broken and quiet. It’ll also connect and disconnect until I restart again. My car is the same. I have come to the conclusion it is software related. Something is different between the 2 versions and/or hardware. When I have more time, I’ll restore my phone and see if that fixes it. I noticed this very quickly when I setup my phone 10 days ago. Several Apple Techs have claimed it has not been an issue. Today, I found this post which clearly shows a problem.

Even though it is connected by BT, many applications have a selector where you can select how audio is redirected; you might want to check that.

For example, Waze will default to USB audio if you are connected to a car via USB and the USB connection can handle audio, even if the last time you used it you selected BT audio.

For those who missed it, the problem appears to be caused by your old device and new device having the same name. So either delete both devices from your car or rename your phone. If you is a Bluetooth headset or the like, renaming your phone is the best option. I believe what is happening is due to our Bluetooth devices trying to connect to the old one since you performed a backup and restore. The above mentioned fix will solve your problem.
