It’s faulty. Return it for a replacement. Don’t let Apple sell you shoddy goods at such a high price.

Same issue here- people report the audio to be very muffled and unclear. They’re unable to make out the words when I talk.
Interestingly when I put the call on speaker, the other person can hear me very clearly. Seems this might be an issue with the mouthpiece on these new phones?
But from what I am reading the replacements have the same problem

Sounds like the same problem but for different reason to mine. Return it if you can.
Same thing people say they cant hear me then i yell and they can. they say it goes in and out and is muffled. This is my second iphone x and its the same problem.

I went to Apple Store they ran a diagnostic
Said All hardware was good
I have Verizon was told probably a Verizon Apple issue
Not sure did a reset
Only time will tell
Because they try to fool you,you should have a SIM card from another carrier and make a call with the new card too.
and then tell them they should take the diagnostic tool to make a diagnose on them.
I found the issue was with Wi-Fi Assist and LTE for calls. I turned off the Wi-Fi Assist and LTE for calls and it solved my problem. I turned Wi-Fi assist back on recently and it was fine.
Seemed to work for me also...... we will see what tomorrow brings
I am glad. I was ready to pitch my phone! I really have not had an issue since. I noticed my LTE bar dropping and it gave me the idea.
