Does it work if you take it out of the case?
Have been meaning to post this for a while - the issue is not the phone. It’s the flip case. When you fold it back, it covers the rear mic and the phone thinks your voice is the background noise (hence trying to cancel it out).
I have tried calling without folding the cover and multiple people confirmed my voice was crisp.
Ask for a new ohone
If it's new, you should still be within your return window and can do so for a full refund if it was purchased from an Apple Store or other store that holds to Apple's general policies.
Yes same problem on two iPhone X been through to support as nice as she was she was only following a script. Endedvadvising to return them to the Apple shop shame after only 11 days but after calling shop they have no phones anyway ? Mmmmm
14 days is the period of return but as it’s faulty they may take it back. That’s why everyone should test their iPhone X as soon as they buy it over the first week and return it if it has this fault. Clearly they haven't been tested properly. You could try the fix described above but even if this works your phone is still faulty. I’d return it for repair.
Three mics I believe, but stand to be corrected. Bottom for voice calls, top near earpiece for speaker phone and rear near lens for video. Understand the rear mic may be use also for noise cancelling. Thought I read that somewhere as I recall the person having same problem and covering this mic solved it. No longer have Iphone x so unable to try that or turning off the noise cancelling.
Well, you said "About time apple acknowledged an issue here" so I assumed you meant here. Have a friend with a folio case, she has to be careful she does not cover the ambiance microphone. I have the Apple leather case and have not microphone problem on mine.
Been there done that. Recording memos sound perfect. It's just intermittent crappy call quality for the person I'm talking to. Its not a network issue, because the same SIM in another phone works perfectly. It's either a hardware faulty or an iOS issue. Here's a video I made of the crappy quality iPhone X - Microphone Quality Following Apple Repair - YouTube
Just spent another hour on the phone to apple and they have agreed to send me a new phone - they will not entertain a refund as they cannot verify a fault. I'm planning on just selling the new phone and cutting my losses. No more iPhones for me.
Have you seen that over 1300 people have responded to this forum with the same issue? Also, the caller does not experience any issues, everything sounds great on my end, it is the people on the other end that have the problem. And just because you aren't having any issues, doesn't mean that there couldn't be a problem with a sub-set of phones that were manufactured. In addition, there are numerous websites dedicated to this issue as well.
We have several iPhone x the 64 versions, all with the same voice quality issues. Have had the opportunity to use 3 different iphone x's but the 256 versions. None of these had the issue. Same city, Atlanta, same carrier, Verizon.
Therefore, it would be helpful for everyone to list there version in any reply.
The most frustrating thing for me about this issue is how Apple has taken such an immoral and unethical low road on this problem. As many others have mentioned, they act like they have never heard of such an issue when you talk to their senior level engineers. Apple refuses to even acknowledge this huge problem that has existed in their iPhones since the model 7. I just can't see myself buying anymore products from a company that would treat their customers this way. There is a total disregard for the consumer in this situation. I have had three iPhones and two different service providers and nothing fixes this issue. There is a systemic problem with the iPhone hardware and Apple will never admit or acknowledge this as it could effect the bottom line and their financial results. One thing always remains constant, no matter who my service provider is I can always take my SIM card out of my iPhone and put it in my Google Pixel 2 and there are no call quality issues. Apple senior engineers will not even respond to my call anymore because they know there is no fix for this issue.
Exact same issue! People can't hear me on my new iPhone X unless I switch to speakerphone. I tried to call my self a couple of times and I realized that in order to hear my own voice I need to place my mouth right next to the microphone on the bottom of the phone unless I can not hear my voice! Apple needs to replace all iPhone X or fixes the problem to all iPhone X for free (as happened with the problematic sleep buttons on a previous model...!)
Yes, I'm sure that is it, all the people I am talking to are just too nice to tell me that.
And again not all 1700 posts here say they are having an issue and many are a series of posts by one person. And many stories on the Web are nothing but echoes of other stories.
I'm not familiar with your situation. I don't know where you are located. But there are many reasons that cell phones can have problems where the other side cannot hear you or it is garbled. And back in the analog days we even had static. And these predate the iPhone X.
I do know one person who had an issue as she had the folio case. She found if she held it where she didn't cover the ambience microphone on the back there was no issue. That may be a design issue between the two but it isn't a flaw affecting everyone.
So once again as myself and others have reiterated in this thread, if your case gets far enough with Apple they will admit they have an issue, guess you missed that in my last statement. I have been able to replicate the exact issue with four different iPhone X's and one iPhone 7 that I had. In addition, I have tested this with AT&T and Verizon. Either carrier, I can pop my SIM card out of my iPhone X and put it in my Google Pixel 2 XL and people will ask me if I got a new phone, and I have no case on my iPhone, why would I even want to protect it?
Correct, the iPhone 7 was when Apple introduced the microphone on the front camera. The noice cancellation technology that uses that microphone, will often cancel out the person talking on the phone. This is also why the person you mentioned with the folio case had problems. When working with Apple that is the first thing they will tell you to get rid of, even though it is an Apple product designed for the iPhone X.
people cant hear me on calls on iphone x
