They did the same tests to my phone and said its all good . I said no it isn’t.. he tryed different carriers and the mufled sound was duplicated.. the tec then went in and changed some settings and it worked but failed again hours later...
Have been meaning to post this for a while - the issue is not the phone. It’s the flip case. When you fold it back, it covers the rear mic and the phone thinks your voice is the background noise (hence trying to cancel it out).
I have tried calling without folding the cover and multiple people confirmed my voice was crisp.
I'm with Tesco mobile. It suddenly started happened in December on my old iphone SE first after having used it for 2 years with no probs. I couldn't get to the bottom of it so I upgraded to the iphone x.
I have a similar problem but the other way round, I am in the middle of a conversation and after about 5 mins suddenly I can't hear the other person speaking but they can hear me as clear as day. What happens is that I hear a hissing whooshing sound, (not unlike holding a seashell to your ear when you were a kid to listen to the sea). I'm so used to it now my friends expect it and I have to say, hold on, I've lost you, I'll call you right back. They hear me say that, I can't hear them and I hang up, call back and I'm back again, for another few mins then same thing happens.
It's driving me mad as I have customers calling me to book their hols right now and I can't hold a business conversation with this going on.
That phone (iphonex 3 weeks old) also finally froze permanently. Conveniently on New Years eve at the bells. I lost the video I was taking at that moment and all my holiday photos for the days leading up to that that hadn't been saved to icloud. The touch screen wouldn't work for anything. I tried the suggested hard close down which was press volume up, then volume down buttons then right hand switch off. That didn't make a difference.
I was sent a new iphone 8 days ago. I changed over and also used the new sim (as it was suggested the old sim was at fault). After 2 phone calls, exact same thing again! Couldn't hear the caller, they could hear me, same hissing my side. It only happens when I get up and move about though. I thought it was a loose connection inside the phone but third phone same problem says no to that.
I've just come off a 3 hour call with Tesco Mobile. They've finally agreed to send out another iphonex. We're hoping I was just unlucky with 2 handset and 3rd time lucky. I hope so.
I'm having the same issue on my new 8 plus. I have tried two different covers and no cover at all and still the same issue. Unless I scream no one can hear me. I googled and there are a lot of complaints about this. I tried to do a hard reset and checked my voice memo app to make sure it's not a technical issue and those were all fine. Getting very irritated.
From what I can tell online they are replacing the phones when you take them in because they don't know why they are doing it, but the new phones do the same thing so what exactly is the point until they fix the actual issue? I have done all the things the recommended and even some of the not so conventional and still no one can hear me clearly. They said it sounds like I am mumbling or have the phone on my shoulder. I am so tired of it especially considering the price on these things!
I bought new iPhone 8 Plus last month and no one could hear me when I answered their call . I went to apple store and tech had same issue so they replace my phone and now it’s doing same thing intermittently. Never had this problem with other older iPhone models. I’ve spoken to others with same issue . This is a big problem yet u don’t hear about it except on blog like this
I have been contacting apple daily regarding my claim that their 'repair' they say they have done to my phone has made no difference. They just do not want to reply to me. I have had the phone at an independent apple store and the basic microphone/speaker check they did suggested no fault. My frustration is that there is a bit more involved in making a phone call than just a working microphone. Its what the phone does with the audio signal prior to transmitting it to the network that I feel is the issue. There's something amiss and apple either don't know what the issue is, cannot fix it or won't admit there is an issue. I suspect the latter. And the number of people with this issue has now passed 1000 on this thread.
I use my phone for business so can't afford to have clients complaining that they can't hear me. I've replaced the phone with a google pixel 2 xl which I can report has no issues with call quality. The iPhone sits unused in its box waiting for apple to process a refund. They say they need to verify that the phone is faulty, yet they do not make any test calls on the device to determine this, they just test the microphone. Very let down by apple.
I seriously doubt that’s it’s a faulty batch. I purchased mine back in December, and the minute I walked out of AT&T, the problem occurred. I have tried everything mentioned above and nothing worked. I returned my phone and just received my new one last week, and guess what? The problem is still occurring. I really don’t know what else to do. Phone is too expensive to be faulty!!! 😡😡😡
What kills me is apple has done everything they can to fix my phone and even replace it. It is obviously a flaw in the design of the phone, and they are basically telling me I am out of luck. Asked for my money back, of course they won't do that because they don't stand by their product. In my view apple just stole a thousand dollars from me. Tonight I ordered a Pixel 2 XL. I have to be able to make phone calls and this just cannot be accomplished with an iPhone X.
I can assure you it is not a carrier problem. I have been working with Apple on this for some time. I have had two different iPhone X's on two different carriers and it is horrible. I can pop the SIM card in my Pixel 2XL and it is like I am on a land line. Without even telling people they ask, "did you get a new phone". This is a problem that Apple does not want to acknowledge. I have sent my diagnostic logs to Apple but they will not respond. I am trying to get a hold of them right now.
It just doesn't make any sense as I have had 2 iPhone X's 256 models that had these issues, It's an Apple issue and they are aware of it. If they had to give us our money back this problem would be fixed.
Thank Brendan, but there is nothing covering the mic
I have the same issue! People say i am muffled or just can't hear me on my new iphone X unless i switch to speaker phone. What the issue? How do i resolve this issue?
I live in Norway, have same problem.
Tried to turn of background filter, helped
a bit,but still not good.
Sounds like the same problem but for different reason to mine. Return it if you can.
people cant hear me on calls on iphone x
