Iphone X weak signals

I received my iphoneX yesterday and set it up with my previous cellular network. Since then i have noticed that signals strength is significantly weaker than before both at home and on the go. Call kept disconnecting while travelling. Never had any sumch problem on iphone 7 ios 11.1 and 11.2beta. I have tried ringing apple care and they have asked me to reset network settings which i have done but issue is still there. My old iphone 7 at same network and same ios is in my other hand showing full signal strength. Is it an issue with iphoneX signal antenna?

Same issue here, extremely poor signal in Chicagoland area with the X. Previous models didn’t have this issue.

It’s more than disappointing to say the least, with my iPhone 7 I would get 4 bars of cellular and WiFi signal anywhere in my home. I am sitting here now and the iPhone X has such a weak signal to the WiFi it defaults to Verizon cellular which is only 2 bars. I have to walk closer to the Apple airport for it to acquire. I am looking at my old iPhone 7 and it’s max strength on both. And yes I have the Qualcomm 1645 modem in the phone. I am concerned this Is just a poorly designed antenna.

At this point it’s pretty much confirmed, I have had the iPhone X for 2+ weeks now and the signal reception of cellular and WiFi is dismal. In all the same locations that my iPhone 7+ worked flawlessly with strong reception the X gets weak or no reception. I am going to have to extend my Home airport WiFi because the X won’t receive signal while the 7+ had no problem throughout the home. You would think that if anything their designers would have improved antenna reception on an 800 dollar phone instead it’s been downgraded.

Re: alanfromokehampton's assertion that "I assure you it is your carrier", I have now traveled with my *second* iPhone X (the first was replaced, no improvement) to various parts of Canada and have recently spend eleven days driving from Canada to Florida. I've therefore used at least two carriers and used them in widely-dispersed parts of their networks.

I've had more trouble with cell reception/transmission, dropped calls, and making calls in less than two months with this phone than I have had IN TOTAL since I bought (upon their release) the iPhone 4, 6, and 6s Plus.

The problem is the phone, NOT the carriers.

Absolutely it is the phone and/or phone firmware (more specifically, I suspect it is the modem and modem firmware, or perhaps even overly aggressive battery saving at the expense of the cell radio). I have now gone through four different iPhone X devices that all exhibit very poor reception, all identical to each other, and all worse than any other phone. I still have an open case with Apple about this but I’m not holding my breath on a fix. I have gotten only silence lately.

I did open an Apple Support session, had me reset the network connections, reboot the phone. Absolutely no improvement, reception is dismal in places where I never had issues with the 7+. It won’t even pick up my Home WiFi unless I am close to the Airport never used to have that issue. Next step Support wants me to erase and restore my phone. With all the similar complaints this is a waste of my time and a pipe dream solution doomed to fail. It’s clear these phones have a major antenna reception issue. I will most likely send it back and get the 8 until they sort this out. They can add this problem to their current fiasco of slowing down older phones to save battery life. It’s too bad, was a nice phone with great features but they seem to have overlooked a critical feature,Signal Reception!!

I think what is important to note is that it is not just cellular signals that the iPhone X is weaker on but WiFi also. My 6+ picked up my Apple airport WiFi throughout my home with no problem, the X doesn’t even recognize it in some areas of the home and defaults to cellular signal. It would be wishful thinking to think a version update will fix this problem.

"Like I said. I complained to Apple, they did a diagnostics test , said all is well with my phone. But obviously this is something more, and Apple need to hold their hands up , and get this issue sorted."

Know that when Apple does its diagnosis, "all is well" may mean that your phone is having trouble with less than 20% of the calls you've attempted or lost. That's Apple's "acceptable" threshold according to the Apple diagnostician who examined my first iPhone X.

Although I had had problems with just under 20% of my ~30 or so calls in the first few days they agreed to replace the phone anyway. No improvement - weeks later I've had problems not only in many known-good areas around home, but have traveled thousands of miles and on two networks with it and had random issues all over the place.

That's good news! I'm working as well with the same procedure with the Bluetooth connection issues. I collected data (2.1 GB) and sent it to the senior support. All profiles can be found here: https://developer.apple.com/bug-reporting/profiles-and-logs/?platform=ios

Please note that even if you have done all the sys diagnostics and save it to your PC/Mac, you'll still need a tick and an upload link from the senior support. As always...it's important that we all report these issues, and not only write here at the community.

Kudos to all those going through this painful process to help Apple realize what they most certainly already know. That there is a signal reception issue with the iPhone X on both cellular and WiFi signal. Maybe they will fix it on newer devices going forward and leave the initial role out with our “acceptable” less than 20% reception issues.

Kudos to everyone who is going through this painful process to help Apple recognize what they almost certainly already know. That the iPhoneX has substantial reception issues on both cellular and WiFi signals the difference between the 7 and X is huge. I just can’t justify spending anymore time on this. Hopefully this is not a hardware issue that will be fixed on newer devices going forward while we are left to accept our less than 20% reception as “normal”
