Iphone X weak signals

I received my iphoneX yesterday and set it up with my previous cellular network. Since then i have noticed that signals strength is significantly weaker than before both at home and on the go. Call kept disconnecting while travelling. Never had any sumch problem on iphone 7 ios 11.1 and 11.2beta. I have tried ringing apple care and they have asked me to reset network settings which i have done but issue is still there. My old iphone 7 at same network and same ios is in my other hand showing full signal strength. Is it an issue with iphoneX signal antenna?

So the issue is that the A1909 model has a modem in the ATT version of the phone that causes a significant signal drop on LTE. ATT only has this model. Verizon has the A1865 Model which is much better.

Apple will continue to Ignore this issue and give you the run around because there is no fix short of returning the phones and starting over. I have spoken with 3 Apple senior managers who have each sent me a new A1909 model, all with the same issues. They all took me through the 10 steps on their site including connecting me with ATT to check outages and low signal (in Chicago - Right!).

If you are stuck with an ATT phone the only way to boost signal is to go into settings and cellular and turn off LTE. You will notice signal strength immediately comes right back up to 4Bars. You will still have 4G just not LTE so will be a bit slower. If you can transfer to Verizon you will get the A1865 Model keep your number and the problem goes away.

Good Luck

Unfortunately this has nothing to do with switching the internal modems or any of the other useless, time consuming procedures that tech support puts you through, none of it works nor will getting replacement iPhone Xs. You need to be in high signal strength areas for cellular or WiFi for it to be reliable if not expect completely unreliable service. It’s a “city” phone. I should have gone back to my 7+

Yeah unfortunately, it’s so hard to tell. We have about 5 things to blame. Phone, iOS, antenna, cell towers, LTE bands.... but it does narrow it down a lot since I went back to my 8 and have the same issues. I’m the only one who hasn’t experienced call failure. My issue is LTE data is very very slow and weak on 150 mbps. I bought my iPhone 8 to work with me last week to test because I know it always worked perfectly, and noticed less signal than my X..... ran a speed test on the 8, 15-20 mbps.... strange. So long story short, they are both performing the same for me. Something happened from activating the X on my account. I never had a data problem before I got the X. Now all phones I tested are 80% slower. And also tried 6 new SIM cards. I’m completely lost. I can’t see the issue with the antenna because I can stay on the phone all day and never drop a call. And if there is an antenna issue, there’s no way I would get 150 mbps on a defective phone.

Interesting, as I have said in previous posts I have the Verizon 1865 and the signals for both cellular and in Home airport WiFi are substantially below what I was getting with my 7+. Doesn’t matter where I go the cell signal is always weaker than what I experienced in the same locations with the previous phone. I find myself in venues where people around me are all using their phones and I can not text, call or get data.

As I have said in previous posts all the tedious time consuming resets, and other shot in the dark solutions that tech support has you go through have zero effect other than wasting your time. You have a good point that you would think there would be a much bigger outcry from X users but without question there is something wrong with them and I suspect that if you are in areas that have full and strong coverage you may not notice a problem, but if you are in marginal areas it’s no comparison to the 6 or 7+ phones. That’s why I call it a “city” phone.

As You put it , I live in an Marginal area ie ( Rural area ) . And my service coverage has been updated to cover for 4G .

So I suggest you have a word with your supplier . Because my phone now works a treat . Not so good indoors i'll admit , but wifi covers that.....!

I have the A1901 model .

I did have issues with 4G coverage , but as I said . All sorted now....

Yes, indeed, my usual use area is a rural, more marginal one, hilly. All long accepted by the denizens; we typically still get LTE, 2-4 bars in the good spots

The issue has been that this phone seems to stop searching for a signal when I'm on the move. Say I'm in a spot with no bars. I start driving and go into areas that have long-standing known 3-4 bars LTE. Even after an hour, the phone says no signal. I've got to switch off and on airplane mode to get it to search for a signal. I believe that this is an Apple "feature" to preserve the ever-deteriorating battery life. Sure, I can force it to search, but on a $1200 phone? Never happened before on any iPhone I've had.

Practically, driving and using CarPlay it's a menace. I believe Apple should build in an iOS cellular setting switch for "Rural Mode."

Lates model i have is a iphone 7 and that has better reception and faster download speeds believe it or not. My wife has the 8 and she is with spring which is garbage service, but she gets more reliable service then my iphone x. Second my iphone 7 i’ve had for a year and didnt replace battery gave it to my 7 yr old. I did check signal strength and the iphone 7 wins. Hopefully this will

Ditto. Why spend $1200 then be stick with 4- or even 3-G?

Apple support guy was straight with me, though. After replacing my iPhone X still didn’t help, he said leave a comment at apple.com/suggestions which i did. I do like all the other functions of this phone very much and am split what to do. Still considering selling it and buying a used 6s or 7.

I have the A18$5 model and have the exact same issues others are reporting here. My husband has signal on his 6s+ when I have none. Because I depend so heavily on my phone, I even switched networks (from ATT to Verizon), and had Apple replace the phone. Same problem. In desperation I went and got a galaxy S9 SS an experiment, and can make and receive calls from the Galaxy when my iPhone X is completely unable. It’s a maddening situation, because the iPhone X is so much better to use, if only it worked

I have had connectivity issue since first week i got my iPhone X. My iPhone screen shows full signal bar LTE, but unable to connect to the internet. Never had problem with previous generation of iphone. Been fighting back and forth and they always come up with excuses like my carrier, wait for next IOS update, restore to system settings... The only way to resolve this issue is by restarting my phone and next day it happens again. Customer service recomended me to record a video which i did, retail staff didn't want to see it and restored my phone to factory setting... again. I have been using Apple for 10 years and i won't ever again.
