Having the same issue here in São Paulo - Brazil... most of the times I’m stuck with 3G where I had 4G before with my 6S, really hope Apple is looking at it, if I knew this was an issue before I would have gone with the iPhone 8 instead of the X
So the issue is that the A1909 model has a modem in the ATT version of the phone that causes a significant signal drop on LTE. ATT only has this model. Verizon has the A1865 Model which is much better.
Apple will continue to Ignore this issue and give you the run around because there is no fix short of returning the phones and starting over. I have spoken with 3 Apple senior managers who have each sent me a new A1909 model, all with the same issues. They all took me through the 10 steps on their site including connecting me with ATT to check outages and low signal (in Chicago - Right!).
If you are stuck with an ATT phone the only way to boost signal is to go into settings and cellular and turn off LTE. You will notice signal strength immediately comes right back up to 4Bars. You will still have 4G just not LTE so will be a bit slower. If you can transfer to Verizon you will get the A1865 Model keep your number and the problem goes away.
Good Luck
Just recieved my iphone x! Same **** problem! Lte 1-4 bars normally at 2nars whereas my iphone 7 had no issue full strength all the time. To much money for this phone to be having this ******** issue! Apple step it up!
Heres my iphone x houston, Tx and my iphone 7 doesnt have these issues at all. Iphone x signal constantly goes up and down pathetic for the amount of money i’ve spent! Makes me want to return the phone! Im on att prepaid for about 4 years maybe more never had issues with my iphone 4, 5s, 6, 7, 8plus.
Hi, and thanks for your help with these questions: 1. What is the latest model iPhone that you've had that Didn't have these cell and wireless connection problems? I last had a 6s before buying a X, and the 6s worked fine.
2. If you've retained that prior model, has it continued to work about as well (say, also after replacing its battery) even after upgrading to iOS 11?
Thanks for your personal experience.
Jonathan
X is worthless
6s still works fine
Apple support is worthless.
They minimise the problem:
They say not everywhere is a good connection but there are completely blind for the fact that all other phones work perfect in the same circumstances.
Sent with my most expensive but most worthless phone ever, my iPhone X
Well that is the first time I have heard that Apple is aware of the problem and are working on it. If true they should come out with an official statement that they acknowledge the problem, what it is and how they intend to fix it. Until I see that I remain doubtful this is being addressed other than useless resetting of network connections, resetting the SIM cards, resetting or reloading the phone, etc etc. it all has no effect.
I am iPhone user since first iPhone came and upgrading all the time but this time and never had any issue. I bought mi iPhone X from Dubai airport and I can complete any call as it drops or noice. I ha e consulted with Telenoor and they ha e check singles and these fine but it is not working properly, please help to address this
Well the took one of my post down called it a rant about there precious iPhone X that doesn’t work right. Maybe if the would be straight up with us and let us know if they are going to fix the problem or do we sell it if we can or get a different phone. Like a totally different brand phone
I got the same problem. I have 3 days with my IPhone X and the experience of browsing on internet at home is frustrating, I’ve got as much as 2 bars on LTE and sometimes 3G. What’s going on with this ?? I’m seriously thinking on getting a Samsung S9
Interesting. Did it start after 4 months of use? I think all of us had the problem from day one.
Just to update you all on my progress, I have taken the phone to an Apple store in London and the Genius ran two hardware tests on the phone and said there’s no actual hardware issue with the phone and I have to check with my carrier. For your information I have tested with my sim on iphone 8 and iphone 7 with no issues at all. I noticed the call drop happnes when the phone switches from 2g to 3g or 3g to LTE etc. Any idea how I can convince apple to give me a replacement and prove about the specific call drop? Because at Apple store it never happens...
It’s been going on from day one with my X but my wife’s has no issues as bad as mine. So has to be with the phone it’s self. Just wish Apple would step up and help there customers before everyone leaves to different phone
I’ve done everything suggested in the article following the link. Most of these things I’ve done twice. I’ve had the phone exchanged for a new one. I’ve toyed with changing from AT&T to Verizon, but others have told me that does not improve the problem.
The 6S iPhone had a much better performance than this telephone. I usually have one bar less than the 6S in most locations in my small city. I cannot fathom how this would be allowed as I have paid $1100+ for the iPhone X. Disappointed is an understatement.
Well, I've had the same problems over months but have not gone to near the expense and trouble that you have to prove the defect lies with the iPhone X.
A question: remember years ago when there was a stink in the press about a new iteration of iOS showing a bar fewer and seemingly having poorer reception? It was huge until Apple published a fix. There is a real problem now, but why is there almost zero news about this in the press? There are so many people that would like to throw mud on Apple but I hear nothing. Are there just a few of us experiencing or concerned about this?
So, the only variable I can come up with is my semi-rural residence status and the fact that I travel 'out back' in America a lot. (I do remember one of us still having lousy reception in an urban area), but are most of us in semi-rural settings which might make this deficit more glaring?
For example, it truly seems ATT doesn't give a hoot about rural reception on their network. Verizon appears to make greater efforts to cover more of the map. Could it be that rural users (who tends to be fewer in number and are poorer) make the rural market less worth Apple's while to fix this problem?
I'm fishing, I know. What do you think?
No indeed, I didn't remember that prior 'solution.'
I was able to use a command in iMessage to enter a diagnostic mode and measure actual signal strength on my old 6s with a prior iOS version but no more.
Do you know what would work now to get that info? Might be useful to document with 'hard figures' the actual differential side by side of 6s, 8s and Xs, while all are on 11.4.
Strangely enough, although I can find a record under my profile on A. communities of all my posts, no matter how abstruse, since 2011, there is no mention that I am subscribed to this 'weak cell strength' thread. I still receive emailed notices of others' submissions to the thread. Are we pariahs?
By the way, using field test, two bars = -104 and three bars = -99 dB. Abysmal.
Iphone X weak signals
