I’m having the exact same issue with my iPhone 8 Plus. First I thought it was a faulty handset and I wanted to return it. Do you think I should do it or should we wait for an update that can finally fix this annoying bug?
Do you think I should consider returning it? As far as I can see, many users have this issue but others aren’t experiencing this weird “cold gate” issue with the LED flash. I’m confused and I don’t know whether it’s a software or a hardware issue.
But are we guys sure it’s not just a huge batch of faulty phones? Apparently some people aren’t experiencing this issue, at least judging from their comments.
Many are complaining, and that’s a matter of fact, but I really want to make sure this issue is actually affecting all of the iPhones 8/8 Plus and X on the market.
Why don’t they even addres this problem on YouTube? I mean the tech reviewers... I’m so **** confused!
Yeah, please let me know as you as you can because I still don’t know whether I should return it or wait for a software fix! Do you know 8/8 Plus users whose phones work just fine even in cold weather?
I am experiencing the same problem with my iPhone 8 Plus.
Went out for a bike ride this evening and stopped to take a few photos. However, the flash didn’t work. I tried it in ‘AUTO’ and ‘ON’ but no joy. Ambient temperature was about 4 or 5degC.
Once I got home and had been indoors for about 5 minutes the flash worked fine.
I haven’t swapped mine for a new one yet because there’s no Apple store in the area where I live and I should ship mine, which means it will take at least 9-10 days for me to get it back. So frustrating...
Same here. Called Apple and gave them link to this communication. They told they were not aware of this issue 😮. Hopefully this issue gets resolved. I was just wondering, if this issue is only with 8+ or even X is affected.
Not true what Apple say they know, they are not willing to take on the problem. To many devices!
We must form
a community and to enforce their will! A common letter to Apple's leadership that everyone signs here!
I am also getting the same problem. This is highly stressful. The phone is brand new (bought yesterday, 8+) and when I went outside in 2’C the flash stopped working on the camera and was only functional when using it as a flashlight. What can be done about this considering I never experienced the same problems with my IPhone 7. I would expect better from Apple especially when the prices of IPhones is increasing A LOT
Thanks
I have same problem. About 5-6 Celsius, my and my family member’s iphone x flash not working outside. When the phone reach 8-10 Celsius the flash works again. I hope Apple will change all phones in guarantee.
It is 36 degrees Fahrenheit, actually kind of above the normal weather today and no snow and the flash on my iphone 8 plus won't work outside? I go inside and it works fine. My phone is on inside pocket of my coat next to my body, so it's probably warmer than 36 degrees. I am on my 4th iphone (Had 4,5,6 plus, and now 8plus) I've never had this problem with any of my phones. Is it a defect? Should I take my phone in? I live in the North (Northern Indiana) where it's always cold in the winter LOL Ridiculous.
Yes! I just got my iPhone 8 Plus 256gb 3 days ago. I took my kids out for a walk and it is not too cold, only -2C (29F) and my camera flash wasn’t working. It gets dark here early in the winter so I couldn’t use it. I tried to do a hard reset and test everything and nothing would make it work. As soon as I got home and the phone warmed up (2 minutes) it worked like there is no problem. So sad because my iPhone 6s I had before I upgraded to this would die in the cold and it would be like 30% battery life but turn on when it got warm again and turn on to that 30%. I’m just sad that iPhones don’t do well in colder weather. My iPhone 3 and 4 never had issues in cold weather.
I have the same problem! I would be outside in temperatures between 37-45 F and the flash would not work. Then I would go inside to room temp and it would work. Can I get a replacement for this issue? I have a video proof
Yeah, 37 degrees F and trying to take a picture of my broken car to show insurance. Really ***** I’ll have to wait until daytime and go to the tow yard to take a picture of the car for insurance. My 6S Plus took pics like this all day long. Ridiculous. Apple make this work! I’m inside your precious operating specifications.
Funny, I thought my iPhone 8 Plus was a rare reject that somehow slipped pass Foxconn QC. Now that I see almost 2000 people experiencing the same problem, I am now convinced this is just another bug, of many, in the septic tank of OS’s known as iOS 11. Really glad I made the move from Android to............this??? :^ \
