Hi djtwok,
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. I understand that you are having some issues with the flash on your iPhone when it is cold out. I'm not sure how cold we are talking, but you may want to make sure that you are using your iPhone within the range outlined below:
Environmental Requirements
- Operating ambient temperature: 32° to 95° F (0° to 35° C)
- Nonoperating temperature: −4° to 113° F (−20° to 45° C)
- Relative humidity: 5% to 95% noncondensing
- Operating altitude: tested up to 10,000 feet (3000 m)
iPhone 8 - Technical Specifications - Apple
Use iOS devices where the ambient temperature is between 0º and 35º C (32º to 95º F). Low- or high-temperature conditions might cause the device to change its behavior to regulate its temperature. Using an iOS device in very cold conditions outside of its operating range might temporarily shorten battery life and could cause the device to turn off. Battery life will return to normal when you bring the device back to higher ambient temperatures.
Keeping iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch within acceptable operating temperatures - Apple Support
Regards.
Something new news? Maybe Apple read this f.cking **** ??????????
Apple released the 11.1.2 update which addressed this on the iPhone X specifically
Has anyone updated to 11.2 and experiencing the same issue (after restarting the device too, of course)?
Today in 30 degrees my flash would not function and I am up to date with the latest update. I am in IPhone 8 Plus .. so the update did not fix this issue. Apple needs to fix it or recall the phones
Yes what nonsense are you talking the 11.2 doesn't fix that
Same here in Germany i had all the iPhones from 2007 until X and never any problems
Read before you go at me with nonsense
I wonder if it's the new outer casing//how it's housed now? Hmmm...🙇♀
Same problem here with flash not working on both a iPhone 8 (bought in the states) and an iPhone X (bought in Asia). The temperature is -1 Celsius and getting this problem.
Ah, not good for users at all 😠
11.1.2 was for the X freezing problem with the screen not flash
Same problem with my iphone 8 plus. Flash isn’t working intemperatures below 10 degree celsius. Apple must fix the problem.
did you contact Apple?
You have to report that to Apple. They don't read here
Applecare does software troubleshooting.
