I went to my local Apple store, told them what happened. They took me right away with no appointment (next available appointment was a week later). They had me speak with a manager. Then, They brought someone from the back room. This was the person who would handle my repair. They offered a two tiered solution - calling it a “false touch” issue, they were going to replace the screen. And, if that didn’t work, they were going to give me a new phone.

They replaced the screen in about 45 minutes. It has worked fine ever since.

I recommend going to the store - capture the craziness on video if possible (I used someone else’s phone).

Got the new iPhone X at the beginning of February. Started ghost touching two weeks later. It was small at first, so phone was still useable. At the beginning of March I had my first Apple appointment and they ran diagnostics but didn't find anything. They recommended changing the screen protector. Didn't work. Had another appointment at the Sprint store and they gave me some papers and sent me to the Apple store to get my phone replaced. Went to the Apple store with papers in tow thinking they would just swap out the phone, but they wanted to run their own diagnostics again and wanted to make an appointment (this was 4/17). Made an appointment for the following week since I couldn't wait for a walk in appointment and since my phone was still useable. Went on vacation the following weekend (this past weekend), and my phone just completely deteriorated. Completely useless. I have to text from my Apple watch because the screen is constantly glitching and all I can do is answer phone calls. I don't open apps because it'll delete emails, create events in calendar, open Snapchat and open the snaps. The glitching is primarily at the top 1/4 - 1/2 of the screen. It won't even allow me to click those apps on the top two rows. Super annoyed because after 4-5 appointments with Apple I'm out $40 for a screen protector, been dealing with this for two months with a brand new phone, and was completely unable to take pictures on my vacation. I have my appointment this evening so we'll see what happens, but at this point I'm going to pretty much demand a replacement phone and a new screen protector.

My wife's iPhone X started having this issue after updating to 11.4.1. Her phone is completely unusable, opening random apps, pressing random things on the screen, scrolling about, and you can even "hover touch" it and type tons of gibberish...or just let it type for itself. The weirdest part is it doesn't happen all the time. It just randomly does it for hours, sometimes a reboot makes it go away, sometimes it doesn't.

Is Apple doing anything about this? I guess we'll have to schedule a genius bar appointment. The phone is not even 1 year old so it's still under warranty.

I have had the X for three weeks now, just updated to 11.2 last night, but began having "ghost touch" issues with the screen early yesterday morning. I've had a case on since day one, and I have NOT dropped the phone. I do not live in cold weather, so it's not THAT bug. The main problem here is that when I hover my thumb or finger a few millimeters over the middle row of icons on the home screen, WITHOUT ACTUALLY touching it, the phone begins to go wild and open and close random apps, and scroll up and down by itself inside the app. It's as if a ghostly hand is trying to push every button as fast as possible. This happens several times per hour now. This screen issue seems to affect the middle row of icons on the home screen, as these are the apps that keep opening and closing by itself. I have a video of the issue happening as well, and it shows me trying to close the apps and the apps opening themselves again and switching to different home screens.

I've been experiencing the same thing with my iPhone X purchased in March. Since mid May it has had 'ghost' touch problems with the centre line of the screen being touched without my finger on or near it, opening apps, swiping left to right and sometimes the screen shakes crazily from left to right. It's been to the local 'Genius' Bar twice already and sent to the UK for repair. Both times it came back with a note saying it was repaired OR they had done diagnostics and couldn't see any problem. But they hadn't replaced the screen.

I have countless videos (which I have uploaded to Apple Support) to prove that it is still happening. I've rebooted, erased, restored, sent diagnostic logs to Apple, downloaded latest iOS update - all to no avail. I've asked for a replacement phone but they have refused. It's now FOUR WEEKS since I first reported the glitch and I've dealt with three senior support managers and 2 repair stores. I've just been asked to send it back to Apple for repairs for the THIRD TIME. Have lost all faith in Apple products and just want a new phone at this stage.

Same exact problem. Verizon didn’t want to replace the device until I emailed them links from these forums saying it’s a known issue and many people have had the same problem. Lets hope apple fixes it before the new devices come out.

Verizon did send me a refurbished phone, which is fine because I’ll eventually upgrade. If the problem happens on the new phones after September that would be the final straw and I’d switch back to android. $1000 phone, $1 trillion company and a lot of unhappy customers.
