Photos portrait HEIC issue

Hello Apple and all!

When i try edit some portrait photos with only HEIC format. Some photos change the focal length to the front object after editing.

example: the child holds on to the railing. After editing, the focal length changes from the child to the front of the railing.

1. I have photo and click Magic button (Autoediting) or edit

Apple Please fix this issue. It started from first version OS 10.13 and have on all new final and beta versions.

I tried to create new photo lybrary and repair OSX, and sent feedback many times to Apple but issue is still not solved.

Thank you!

Your screenshot is showing the "revert to original " button as active, or does it not respond, when you click it?

Yes this issue only for HEIC photos, when i switch save to JPG all ok.

That is, because the HEIC files include the Depth map information, that is telling photos how far away the parts of the photo are. So it can focus on the face and blur the background. Once you save the photo as an edited jpeg, the depth information will be lost.

In your example, Photos is either using a wrong part of the depth map, or does no longer know, at which distance the face has been.

i love edit Bokeh in Focos application

Have you edited the photos in question in an external editor?

The depth map seems to be broken for portrait photos, when taken in landscape mode. The Depth map seems to be rotated.

Before I edit a Portrait Mode photo I duplicate it and edit only the duplicate. If the depth map is broken, I export the Portrait photo as a JPEG with maximal quality and reimport the JPEG and edit the JPEG version, until this problem will be fixed.

I clicked it and action applied but photo still stay in incorrect Depth. And for real revert to original this photo i need open photo on iPhone, click edit (Autoedit) - save, again edit - revert to original.

Before no (i have this issue from first release OSX 10.13), but I can edit it and correct the Depth to normal in Focos app. But when i open edited photo on iMac Photos, this photo again broken Depth.
