iPhone 8 plus cracked home button

My 3 week old iPhone 8 plus has a cracked home button! I left it charging and when I came back it had "Home button unexpeted error" on the screen. I looked and it had a hairline crack across the home button. I went to mash the button and it was hot, when I did my finger mashed the corner now and that corner has cracked more. I have read the forums and seems like several people have experience this same thing. I have an appointment with the Apple store on Monday 1/12/18 to see what they can do. I hope they will fix it. I can use my phone, it gave me an onscreen home button to use but it is very hard to opperate like that. Any suggestions or has this happened you anyone else?

This just happened to my IPhone 8 Plus it shut off while using and app. Looked at it and it rebooted on its own. When I set aside since it was taking long and come back on its own the home button is hot, although yes screen option is available. Please update if was covered by insurance if you had one on it.

Will be making an appointment, service as well.

I don’t understand how it can crack on its own. Not touched or dropped, to simply just have a error message on screen.

I have been using Iphone 8+ for about 6 months.I plugged it to charge, When I came back the phone had turned off, then burned my thumb when I was trying to reset it since have been using Iphone 8+ for about 6 months.I plugged it to charge, When I came back the phone had turned off, then burned my thumb when I was trying to reset it since it had a white screen with black apple, I observed a hairline crack running across the home button. The phone was not dropped or even touched during this time. It honestly just spontaneously cracked. now APPLE told me that 6 months old phone reduced to a brick unless i pay apple $169 to fix it?because they said

If you have Limited Warranty on your device, any accidental damage would not be covered. The phone get cracker out the blue there is not accidental damage , this is clearly a manufacturing defect and apple needs to replace or fix the phone. Apple seems to do nothing to solve it or to help their users. Pay for repair??? That’s unfair. We bought a new device of a top company but now I am starting to think I’ll never buy an Apple product anymore...

My iPhone 8+ got a crack in home button after only having it for 2 weeks. It was in a case and had screen protector on. Sent it off to Apple and. Told excessive physical damage. Had a 2nd opinion given for phone, the phone appears to have either a very poor soddering job when it was put together, or a 3rd party person attempted to do soddering job to fix something before I bought phone that was told to be a brand new iPhone from T-Mobile. Now I’m stuck with an iPhone 8+ that won’t be repaired, so I’m forced to buy a new one. Had Apple care +, and Apple voided the warranty due to this. Luckily I got a refund for the Apple care +

My iPhone 8 Plus home button cracked while the phone was sitting on the coffee table. I noticed it and while it was sitting there the phone also had gone into that “bootloop” thing were the phone freezes and it goes into that black screen with the white apple logo on it. I noticed the home button has been getting hot too. I went to the Apple store and the technician said my phone is not covered cause it’s considered accidental damage even though I did not damage it intentionally or accidentally. I called Apple support and spoke with a manager/supervisor who’s handling my case and hope they take care of it cause I refuse to pay for something I did not do

Ok it’s good to know I’m not going crazy! I was so confused when I looked down and my hone button was suddenly cracked and things were no longer working on my phone. It’s in a case & under a glass screen protector which is all in flawless condition. I guess I’ll take this up to the Apple store. Hopefully they will take care of it with no hassle.

I thought I was the only one. I’ve been back and forth with Apple and they told me they can’t do anything cause they consider that “accidental damage” even though I didn’t cause it. They told me that I had to pay to get it fixed and if there just so happens to be a recall on that in the future then they will reimburse me for it
