Touchpad clicks "twice per actual click" (Macbook Pro 2016)

Hey. I'm on a Macbook Pro 2016 and I use multiple users on it.

Sometimes the touchpad clicks twice per real click I make. It seems like it is related to the multiple users being logged into the device (I use the touch ID button to switch between them).

It is the force touchpad without the physical click.

So for example if I have force touch enabled, it will make four "vibrations" depending on the touch depth.

2 vibrations for the normal click, and 2 for the force touch clicks.

It doesn't seem like the 4 clicks are actually registered though, only one per click.

It seems to disappear when I either log out with one user, or put the device to sleep. It does come back from the last one occasionally.

Hello jontelang,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding that your MacBook Pro isn't responding as expected when clicking or using force. I'm happy to help.

I recommend testing this issue in safe mode. Starting in safe mode allows your Mac to run certain checks, remove caches, and prevent login items from automatically launching. This can isolate possible third party issues. Use the steps and information in the link below for assistance with safe mode:
Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac

Let us know if the issue persists in safe mode. Also, please include any additional troubleshooting steps you may have tried.

Have a great day!
