How to insert time stamp in Pages 2018?

I have the most recent version of pages (version 6.3.1) and I'm trying to figure out how to add a time stamp with a keyboard shortcut. I followed another post on this site using Automator and it said it would run correctly, but when I used the assigned shortcut (that I made - control+T), nothing happens in pages...

After saving this as "12hr time" (and I've tried the 24hr time), I got to Pages menu : services: service preferences : scroll down to the "12hr time" shortcut, add the shortcut of ^T (or control+T) and save. Then I go into a blank pages doc and it won't do anything...is there anything I'm doing wrong? how can I fix this?

The service that I created, and that you reference, still works in Pages v6.3.1 on macOS High Sierra 10.13.3 when accessed from the Pages : Services menu. What does not work is the control-T shortcut because it is a reserved shortcut used by Pages to transpose characters on either side of the insertion point. As this is also the case in Pages v5.6.2, I apparently didn't test this shortcut at the time, or it would have not worked. That's on me.

Assign a different, unused keyboard shortcut to that service. You can see what shortcuts are in use by Pages v6.3.1 from the Help menu : Keyboard Shortcuts, and then select the “Pages for Mac Keyboard shortcuts” link on that Pages help panel.

If you want to change the time or date formatting, look at this online, Free BSD strftime man page. You are only interested in the formatting codes that the date command accepts. If you want to see this locally on your Mac as a referenced PDF file, drop into the Terminal (type only the blue text).
