How can I extract text from a table in Pages '09?

I frequently copy text from a web page to Pages '09. However the text comes over as a table and reformatting it can be a pain as I have to do it cell by cell. I have pasted it into TextEdit and converting it into Plain Text. However that loses some of the formatting. Is there a way to turn off the table property? I saw an entry in Help to make text into a table. Is there a reverse process?

In Pages '09 v4.1/4.3, you can convert a table to text, or text to a table via the Format menu : Table sub-menu.

You can also copy/paste that content from a website into a Text box, which should provide cells delimited by tabs, which you can see with the View menu : Show Invisibles. Then, you can copy it from the Text box, and with a default table inserted, the rows and columns will expand as needed if you paste into the first table cell.

No version of Pages is HTML literate (like MS Word) or fully understands the CSS styling that may be incorporated on the source web material. Thus, there is usually content to be lost, or improperly displayed from how it was styled on the web site.

I have learned to not dwell on the past, especially since it has no bearing on the present.

The iWork '05 Suite (Jan 2005), and the iWork '06 Suite (Jan 2006) are part of distant history, and have no current practical consideration for current Pages features, document integration, or running on any Apple operating system newer than 9 years old.

I stand by my comment, unless someone currently running Pages v1 or v2 wants to take exception.
