I imported movies from my Sony HC3 DV tape recorder into FCP I exported finished movie to Apple devices 720P (iTunes) the 1:45 minute movie is 685 mb and it looks horrible if I export as a Master File to desktop its 30 Gig looks great (for DV) is there a happy medium? I have 200 tapes to export and that would take up a huge amount of room

It should appear in the upper left corner of viewer when the project timeline is active. Would be good to see the viewer of the project.
I just realized that this is an HDV camera. I was confused by your saying it was DV.
Open one in the clips in the QuickTime player and give information that’s in the inspector window so we’re certain of the original specs.
I have not exported the file I'm working on the one I just screen shot was a older export to iTunes library. Bare with me i'm pushing 60 and I hunt and peck. The second to the last screen shot is what I'm working on
No problem. Really need to see the specs of the original media. Select one if the clips your editing in the browser and press Shift-Cmd-R. That should take you to the original media file. Open that in the QuickTime player and show the inspector window for it.

I checked, my video codec is (source Apple ProRes 422) have no idea if this is correct or not
DV is 480i. If you export to 720p you’re quadrupling the size of the pixels. Try export to master file using H.264.
You’re using Apple Devices. Use master file or computer and H.264.
What are your project properties?

That’s the output file isn’t it? Or it it one if the original files? What are the specs for one of the clips you’re editing?
Last thing. Try to export the project to master file and set it H.264. I'm at a loss why it would look like that.
