My iPad Air charger gets very hot when plugged in, even in the wall.

I was charging my iPad Air on an extension cord as the Apple cord is too short while I was using it. I noticed the charger was getting very hot, uncomfortable hot. So I started plugging it into the wall, but it is still getting too hot. Now I’m not sure if I need to replace the charger. The iPad is charging and doesn’t get hot, it’s just the charger thing that goes into the wall that gets really hot. Is it dangerous?

I would let the power supply block cool down and then plug the Apple power block into a good quality surge strip, instead.

Sometimes I find that the Apple power blocks due tend to get warm/er plugged into a cheap extension cord or directly plugged into the electrical mains socket.

The Apple power blocks work longer and stay cooler plugged into a good quality surge protection power strip.
