Changing iTunes store ID to match Apple ID

I setup an iTunes store account long before I had an Apple mobile device or an iCloud/MobileMe Apple ID. As a result my iTunes store account is linked to a non-apple email address whereas my Apple ID uses an Apple email.

This hasn't really caused an issue until now, as it seems I'm unable to set-up Family Sharing for Apple Music (presumably because Family Sharing uses my iCloud and Apple Music is linked to my iTunes account).

Is there a way of changing my iTunes store account so links with/uses my iCloud ID?

When I go to Settings > Apple ID > Family Sharing on my iPhone and try and turn on Apple Music in 'Shared Features', I see a screen that says 'Go to Apple Music'/'Not Now'.

Clicking 'Go to Apple Music' takes me to another screen that says 'You are already an Apple Music member', and clicking OK (usually twice) just takes me into my Apple Music Library - Apple Music remains 'Off' in the 'Shared Features' when I go back to Settings

Thanks copberry.

However, I don't just want to change the email address on the iTunes store account to a new one, I want to change it to the email already used in my existing Apple ID.

Will changing the email address in this manner, incorporate my iTunes account into my Apple ID. Or will it create two Apple IDs with the same email address (if that's even possible)?

Initially I didn't get you want to merge two accounts, one you used for purchases in iTunes and the Apple ID you use on your iDevices. That's not an option. The iTunes Store ID you're referring to has to have another Apple ID associated with it. Changing email address will only change your login credentials, and info Apple is using to contact you.

You previously mentioned you are unable to set up Family sharing btw the two. What happens when you are setting up Family sharing and the two Apple IDs?
