Music skipping on iPhone

A POSSIBLE EASY FIX!

This is been driving me insane for weeks. I’ve not had time to backup and wipe everything. Latest update didn’t help.

So I tried the following, and it has worked for 24 hours!

I tried clearing the RAM. You do this by holding the power button. When it says to slide to power off, hold the home button until it goes back to your home screen. That’s it.

I know powering off should have the same effect, but it didn’t.

I hope it works for everyone.

Hi all...noticed that this issue is happening to me also with an iPhone X and 11.4.1.

Happening across multiple Bluetooth devices.

Have tried uninstalling Bluetooth devices, rebooting phone, rebooting devices. There appears nothing I can do from my end. Over to you Apple. Fix it, please.

Yep, I have it to. It probably doesn't happen on the latest iPhones...yet another problem Apple created to get you to buy a new phone. "Not only are we throttling your phone, but we're attempting to make everything else horrible as well."

I thought it was my phone the whole time and got a refurbished phone.. still doing it. It was good for a couple of days and now it keeps on skipping on EVERYTHING. I was on the phone and my friends voice started to skip...

I did a full restore as suggested both here and even when I explained the problem on apple support chat by apple themselves. The problem was gone for a couple of weeks, but over the last couple of days the problem has come back. I've got back in touch with apple and await their reply. Surely they're not going to suggest another restore and then another one when the problem comes back two weeks after that?

I think I have a fix.

{Background}

My skipping music was only occurring while using my AUX cable for my car and my standard headphones.

Music would initially play fine until the phone went to sleep, music would cut out completely and then stutter sporadically.

{Fix that worked for me}

This worked for me and I have no idea why.

If you can you get your hands on some wired lightning cable headphones (I borrowed some off a mate) and plug those in and play some music (I found that they had no issues playing music). Then take those out and put in your normal AUX headphones.

This seems to have fixed the issue for me.

OK, despite my previous post, this time I think I do have a reliable workaround, until Apple fix this.

The issue happens when the phone screen goes locked. For the past week I have turned off sleep mode and always listened to music and podcasts with the screen on. No skipping or jumping yet. Hope this works for people!

Doesn’t this kill your battery? Mine still skips with screen on, although less so than when screen is locked.

Does anyone know if this is a problem with the newer iPhone models? I’m due an upgrade but thinking of switching to android. My Apple Music subscription is basically useless. So annoying!

I increased the lock screen to 30 minutes & it made no difference, 2-3 minutes of listening and the skipping resumes. I’ve got a 7+ & this began happening with the last software update.

Does Apple respond to these posts or is it solely frustrated users?

Solely to frustrate users. As evidenced an incredibly consistent lack of any response to any posts (as well as having to sign in on every visit regardless of the apparently useless "remember me" checkbox on the login page...)

I have managed to fix this issue (at least for now...).

To fix this I simply just deleted the music app from my phone and re-installed it. I only did this yesterday but so far it seems to be okay! 🙂

Yep, mine too. I’m more than a little cynical that this problem started happening the month I paid off my iPhone6. I am not interested in jumping straight into an upgrade and a new payment plan. Is it a coincidence that suddenly my phone starts malfunctioning. Remember, this is the company who brought us batteries designed to drain out...

I seem to be the only one who has tried your suggestion. Too bad, because it works! I'm now several days into playing music (my own ripped CDs synced via iTunes) and so far..no skips or stops in playback. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed, but I think you have the solution. Thanks!

All, see chris29ss post from August 23rd. I have an iPhone 6 and while I only deleted and reinstalled the "Music" app, so far so good. I do believe this is the solution to everyone's problem. I don't see why removing and reinstalling the Podcast app wouldn't work in the same manner.

I’m running 11.4.1 and whenever I listen to YOUTUBE, Amazon music, the native iPhone music app with several different pairs of headphones plugged in with the lightning to 3.5mm adapter that came with the phone I get the same jittery stuttering periodically with the audio. I ordered a new adapter thru Apple and still no better
