[Problem Solved]

Dear all!

If you are having the same problem as disscussed above, please find a professional iPhone repair store and ask them to check the audio IC, it’s a tiny little chip on the mother board.

I got my iPhone 7 Plus audio IC replaced today for ¥400 (around US$60), and the problem is solved! All phone functions back to normal, phone calls normal, voice memo working, etc.

Tips: If your phone is still under warranty, please search help from Apple Store. If not, get the audio IC checked, and most likely it will work for you as well.

Again, this is not a software problem, it’s the hardware issue, another new update won’t fix it!

Well I won’t even bother trying to update to iOS 12 then. I’ve sent 2 emails to apple complaining about this issue. I have yet to hear back. Not sure if you all figured this out or not but I am able to make calls if I’m using a headset connected to blue tooth or in my car connected to blue tooth. It’s a pain but works. However my phone will not pick up sound when I record videos and will not connect to my car via aux cord to play music but my phone charges just fine. What’s up with that?? Apple needs to fix this! Charging people $300 for replacement device that may have the same issue is ridiculous.

I have never bought an Apple product without purchasing AppleCare but evidently I did not for my wife's phone. We have always bought Apple products from Apple but bought her phone from ATT due to availability when we purchased it. Somehow, they didn't add the AppleCare and I did not verify it which is my fault. My wife just left the Apple store where the young lady was beyond rude. It's total BS Apple won't cover this known issue. So, I'm out the cost of a 7 Plus that's under a year and a half old. We have just about every Apple product made and have used them for 20 years plus. Their customer service has really declined in the last couple of years.

I am having the same problem - happened immediately after installing 11.4.1. At Apple Store now and being told that the software revealed a hardware problem which is my fault. They want $319 for a replacement phone. My hotspot also doesn't work.

This exact same thing happened to my son with his iPhone 7 plus two weeks ago. I am livid. They are stonewalling at the store.

Even I am facing the same issue after updating iOS 11.3.1 since yesterday.

It seems there is a bug in the software update that is causing this problem.

I am not able to hear audio from earpiece or speaker while making calls. Even the microphone is not working. However when I connect my AirPods I am able to listen to calls.

I am going to log a complaint with Apple Support and see how it goes. My iPhone 7 is just 18 months old but I have not taken extended warranty. Wonder how to Apple will fix it.

I have tried reset my phone but doesn’t work.User uploaded file

My phone starting doing it, too. Although, it did not start with the 11.3 update. I did that a couple weeks ago. It just started doing it overnight, went to Apple store today and they said I needed a completely new phone. I bought it for $320. Definitely upset about this - I just paid off the phone and then this, without any explanation from the Apple store, happened.

I am having the exact same issue. Greyed out speaker option and record button in memo app.

Bluetooth headset works fine. Normal headset is not recognised. Charging works fine.

Apple says they cannot help me.

One of their partners says its a known issue and only Apple can fix it. So. What do I do?

I am not 100% convinced it is not at least partly hardware related, even though I also got the problem after updating software.

Has anyone tried replacing the microphone and/or the lightning connector?

I am so frustrated. This started happening to me while on vacation in New York a couple of days ago. When I returned home I found this thread and yesterday I went to the Apple Store. The Genuis Bar ran system checks and told me that I will need to get a new phone and the charge was $350. I didn’t have time to stand there and argue as I was late for an appt. Very frustrating. Will be calling Apple to see if I can get a different solution. Anyone have an idea on how to best approach it?

Happens to the the other day I thought my phone just broke but after getting into the car I could hear my phone calls I googled it and this came up. Went to Apple the next day with my 9week old baby stood there for ages to be seen for the guy to blatantly lie to my face and say its just broken and they can’t fix it and I would have to pay around £200 for a new phone I told him about the update and he completely changed his way of speaking and said he needed to go speak to his colleague who said Apple are bringing out a new update. I asked when and then a manager overheard our conversation came running and said no this is not true we haven’t been told there is an update that will fix the phone I would just advise you to get a new one. I then got ****** bc your expecting me to to buy another iPhone when Apple broke mine. I also said some people got their phones replaced but they refused and said when they opened up the phones it wasn’t an issue with the phone due to them.
