[Problem Solved]

Dear all!

If you are having the same problem as disscussed above, please find a professional iPhone repair store and ask them to check the audio IC, it’s a tiny little chip on the mother board.

I got my iPhone 7 Plus audio IC replaced today for ¥400 (around US$60), and the problem is solved! All phone functions back to normal, phone calls normal, voice memo working, etc.

Tips: If your phone is still under warranty, please search help from Apple Store. If not, get the audio IC checked, and most likely it will work for you as well.

Again, this is not a software problem, it’s the hardware issue, another new update won’t fix it!

Same. My husband’s 7+ started with this exact problem 1 week before mine did. We’ve been to the Apple Store and wasted 2 hours. No solution. On the phone with Logan(my husband left him numerous voice messages and emails asking for a solution, he fails to reply anymore. Hi Logan, hope you’re reading this!) and Alex today who was dismissive and focused on how the phones were out of warranty and we’d have to pay for the repair. Very irresponsible of them, no solution and deny deny deny. Really silly since it’s after the iOS 13.1 update that ruined our phones. Last Apple product I’ll buy again. Apple refuses to make it right

Here’s hoping. I always thought I was buying a quality product with Apple, I enthusiastically bought everything. Thousands upon thousands spend on Apple TVs, watches, HomePod, AirPods, laptops, desktop, and iPhones for the last 10 years. It feels like a huge betrayal when they abandon their loyal customers over a problem their iOS update caused. I own up and pay for my damages, this is one that was not our fault.

THANK YOU for sleighing to everyone that this is a hardware issue. So many people have been complaining that they just can’t deal with their premium Apple Product and the support they couldn’t get because they were out of there warranty even though the terms of a warranty are clearly defined when you buy an Apple product. Anyways, I’m very happy you got your problem resolved and maybe other people will get some good advice from this and maybe make good decisions on their own rather than blaming a company for the problems that they don’t quite understand. (Sorry, I’m done ranting. I’m just so done reading through this thread with some of these people.)

I have the same issue on my iPhone7. My warranty ran out a month ago and I did not get Apple care. I went to the “Genius Bar” and the guy had no idea of this issue and blamed it on the hardware (the pins in the lightning dock specifically) and said that the only thing he could do was replace my phone for $500. I refused and figured I would rather move out of the Apple ecosystem altogether and get a galaxy s8 with that money. Then I came to this forum and saw that some people got their phone replaced for free despite not having Apple care... this kind of inconsistency from customer service is not in line with the premium price tag on these devices.

I am having the same issue everything is grayed out the speaker, the add call, the FaceTime, and I can’t hear when I make a call. This all happened out of the blue today. I called Apple support and they just walked me through how to reset which did nothing to help the problem. I am also having problem with the Apple screen stayin on for like 5 to 10 minutes after shutting it down. There are to many people with the same issue it has to be an update.

Happened the same to me after updating my iPhone 7 to 11.3, a couple of weeks ago. Was travelling and managed to get around using the bluetooth headset, but this isn't a solution. Tried reseting and updating to 11.4 but didn't solve it.

I bought the iphone 7 in September 2016, so it's not within the 1 year warranty. Looking forward to having it fixed.., and since it's a general problem affecting multiple other iphone users after updating, of course it should be for free.

I have been having this same issue. Cannot make any calls unless I’m in my car connected to blue tooth. Absolutely ridiculous. I’ve been to the Genius Bar twice and called apple support twice. They have been terribly unhelpful. I even brought this thread with me and the guy at the store told me they stopped replacing phones last week so I’m out of luck. That I need to pay $319 for a replacement phone or I can upgrade through my carrier which is the same price. I’m so frustrated. I’ve always had great experiences with apple and their products. I figured this situation would be the same but unfortunately is hasn’t been. I really don’t want to go to android but apple is giving me no other choice. Apple you should be ashamed of yourself!

I have the same exact issue on my iPhone 7 Plus!

Extremely frustrating, speakerphone icon is grayed out when on calls and the other person cannot hear me. Voice memos is grayed out, video can't record sound, and Siri cannot hear me. I went into the apple store today and they said my only option is to either pay $350 for a replacement because phone is out of warranty. Later i called and they had me factory reset my phone the issue still persisted. This is outrageous! Apple better fix it
