[Problem Solved]

Dear all!

If you are having the same problem as disscussed above, please find a professional iPhone repair store and ask them to check the audio IC, it’s a tiny little chip on the mother board.

I got my iPhone 7 Plus audio IC replaced today for ¥400 (around US$60), and the problem is solved! All phone functions back to normal, phone calls normal, voice memo working, etc.

Tips: If your phone is still under warranty, please search help from Apple Store. If not, get the audio IC checked, and most likely it will work for you as well.

Again, this is not a software problem, it’s the hardware issue, another new update won’t fix it!

I updated my phone today with the same issue. Everything thing works fine all speakers and microphones, but when making a call or receiving a call the speaker is blacked out and you cannot hear or say anything.

Went to Apple, and their assessment was that there’s a mother board issue... complete ********! And coincidentally my warranty was up under a month ago. Apple sales are down. I’ve been a loyal customer for about 8 years now and I’m appalled that this is the answer I was given. First 3 calls I recurved today we’re fine. Updated and no love, yet it’s a hardware issue, they offered me $319 to replace my phone or I can buy a new one yet they are willing to give me 200 for my year old phone.

****** ******. I’m debating switching back to android. I loved Apple until they didn’t live back. Wish Steve Jobs was still around.

Angry soon to be x Apple lover

There are 18 pages of multiple customers with the same issue now, which hasn’t been fixed by the iOS 12 update. Is Apple telling us the life of the iPhone is just about over a year even if you take great care of the device and install all necessary updates? Because this issue wasn’t caused by user damage and your in store customer service is not addressing it. Since when you stopped standing behind your products???

My wife's iPhone 7 has had the same issue THREE times on THREE different phones. Yes, Three! Ridiculous story that would make a good news article. First time it happened after she upgraded to ios11 in march of 2018. Took it to Apple Store, out of warranty, paid $320 and got a new phone. 2 months later it happened again. Knew if she had it twice there must be others. Found news articles about this issue that weren't out the first time we had this issue, and saw that other people were now getting it paid for out of warranty because it was now a known Apple issue. Went back to Apple Store, got a new phone again and requested a refund of the first time I paid the $320. That was a whole long month long process of calling Apple advisors, being told no, getting free airpods for my hassles, and then finally getting a call from the Apple Store manager saying they will also refund the first payment. All was good again....until, now here we are 4 months later, wife upgrades to ios12, has same issue again. Now I'm seeing online that Apple has stopped covering this? We shall see. 3 times in 7 months is no coincidence. I am lucky I never upgraded past ios10 on my phone.

yes I am leaning on the new Samsung. It is a scam. I was at the store & someone had headphone issues & the rep had them buy a new one saying cant help it. Apple is scamming ppl with these new software glitch and not owning up.

There is an article on web saying , apple informed their vendors to replace phones as there is an issue. But vendors & apple store acts like it is their pockets its coming out from. I paid 1200 for the phone 2 yrs ago. Had to get replacement cause of volume or voice issues. New phone came as a replacement as was under warranty.

** My headphones works when I plug in. I can charge my phone but I can not hear if I call out or receive calls unless I place head phone & I am not a head phone person. I always used speaker due to hearing issues.

😮 not happy at all with Apples commitment . Not everyone can afford 600 to replace to new phone.

My iphone 7+ was replaced finally on 4th. While apple had approved teh handset replacement. The instore tec was being arrogant saying its your speaker issue & that I should have just repaired this. and that its not apples issue. I told him I had all the time as I had been without phone for a mth and was in canada for vacation. That I could have him go on blogs & Forbes to view this same issue with the same issue with the rest of IP 7+ users.

He then brought the phone handed it & erased my old phones data & walked away. I will be replacing iphone to samsung 9+

I have a bitter taste with Apple TEC'S in store, seems liek on line ppl are more understanding without seeing you physically to make judgment.

how are everyone getting on with this issue, my sons developed the same problem recently. i contacted apple who have said that i will have to pay for a repair, which im not willing to do, especially after having an issue with a brand new iphoneX which they took over 10 months to resolve.

I've just sent another email after reading that it seems to be a well know wide spread problem..im waiting for their reply

I am adding my name to this growing list of frustrated Iphone 7 users, as I am STILL paying for my phone through my carrier, and considered out of warranty.

I guess the phrase "cell PHONE" no longer applies to this expensive text only device I currently hold in my hand.

as of December 31,2018 I too cannot hear or be heard when I make a phone call.. AND my speaker bar is greyed out.

guess I'll be shopping for an android, even though I've been a loyal Apple purchaser from the start.

Yes i will call, the apple rep i saw at the mall says that they havent got enough complaints about the issue if not apple would replace it. They told me it was becuase the speakers were corrosion from having it in my pocket and maybe from being in the shower it clogges up the speaker. But this cant be everyones issue, they just want money and want ,me to pay 349 for a new one just to switch it out. Im just frusterated i feel like there is more to this than corrosion that just the excuse being made, everyone is complaining about it and it is all Iphone 7s .

Same for me. iPhone 7+ 128gb. Started apx Monday the 7th after an update I assume. Like you I can not hear or be heard. My phone only works if I am in my car using Bluetooth. I have also found out that recordings can not be made with sound. Just recorded my son’s 16th happy birthday song only to find out no audio was recorded.

I was on the phone with apple day before yesterday and the tech had me do all kinds of resets and reboots and nothing worked. I’m a bit miffed that I basically am carrying a glorified tablet now. My 2 yr mark on my phone hit in October and I still owe about 4 payments!

Thankfully I have a protection plan through ATT but I shouldn’t have to pay for a pretty widely occurring problem.

Hi,

im having the same issue can’t receive incoming or out going calls and my loud speaker icon is blocked out. This is the 3rd time this has happened and i can’t get into an apple store for another week and i need my phone to be working for work. I travel in Bali for work and it seems to happen while I’m there I’m not sure if it’s a coincidence or not.

please help
