[Problem Solved]

Dear all!

If you are having the same problem as disscussed above, please find a professional iPhone repair store and ask them to check the audio IC, it’s a tiny little chip on the mother board.

I got my iPhone 7 Plus audio IC replaced today for ¥400 (around US$60), and the problem is solved! All phone functions back to normal, phone calls normal, voice memo working, etc.

Tips: If your phone is still under warranty, please search help from Apple Store. If not, get the audio IC checked, and most likely it will work for you as well.

Again, this is not a software problem, it’s the hardware issue, another new update won’t fix it!

When i connect my bluetooth headphone with two devices including iphone, automatically speaker greyed out. After that voice function got disabled. Since it was out of warranty (1.9 minths), iphone care requested to buy a new phone.

Why manufacturing defect (firmware issue) is not taken care by iphone?

Why iphone is not supporting customer?

Where is the transparency?

Look like every year customer are requested to by new phone or pay $1000 .

Please give a step by step detailed procedure of resetting it 5times in a row.

I m **** frustrated with this issue and tried almost everything, also the issue seems to go for a while after a factory reset but comes back again after a few calls or a day, so how long it has been since you fixed it and is it still working fine ?

Reseting five times continuously with iTunes or just the data erase and reset from the phone itself ?

Apple has several silly manufacturing issues, related to use of less epoxy or poor soldering on all its products.

I had the dreaded touch disease with my Iphone 6 plus. Apple charged me whopping USD 260 to fix it, even when they had a service advisory stating they would charge USD 149. In reality they should have just put a little epoxy and not charged me anything.

Similarly, I have an issue on my iphone 7 audio chip related to a sound IC, they are charging me USD 300 to fix it.

And then there is an issue with the Macbook keyboard and bending of the Ipad pro's. The list goes on and on.

My wife and I have spent more time at apple genius bars, then at the dinner table.

Its best to avoid apple products till apple sorts out the manufacturing mess and starts owning up for their mistakes.

I switched away from apple products and my productivity has really improved. Once you have issues, you dont realize the amount of time that is spent on chats, forums and genius bars.

Let apple sort its mess without using us as guinea pigs :)

We just started experiencing the same issue. It seems they're extremely proud of their products (e.g. cost) but don't care once they get their money. It's a problem with their product AND they managed to secure a revenue stream by charging more to repair. Like you, our family has been Apple customers for years but we're losing faith in their products. They seem to cause more and more troubles or quickly become outdated each time they make an "Improvement". They don't care if we leave and go somewhere else. We're small fish in the very large pond. Tell everyone you know about the experience and post on every social media outlet. It's going to take mass exposure for Apple to care...

I had the same thing happen to me. Apple is aware of this issue but they just want you to buy a new phone. I am so upset over how Apple handled this. I took my phone (IPHONE 7 PLUS) in after doing the new ios 12.1.4 update. My phone worked perfectly fine before this update but the minute the update was done my phone was no longer a phone. They said the update just recognized an issue. Ummmm. ***. They wouldn't do anything for me. You would think they would replace your phone but no they want you to buy a new one.

So clearly this is a known issue. Apple knows this is a problem. I am having the same problem with my phone. It’s frustrating to call into support and they say they have no idea about this issue.

All I want is my phone to work. If Apple knows it’s a problem then give ur customer service reps good information to pass along to the customer so the issue can be resolved as soon as possible.

As as of right now I’m SOL.

I had the same experience when i went to an Apple Store in Walnut Creek CA.

My Iphone 7+ suddenly had immediate issue where speaker is grayed out while call is in progress. I can’t hear the call and same with the other caller. If I plug a headphone , it will not be detected as when I play audio is plays on the speaker. Same also happens while playing videos. Mic is confirmed working as Siri can hear me. I can only hear the other caller if i use Bluetooth head phones. This immediately started after iOS 12.3 upgrade. I did all troubleshooting suggested on the internet but nothing seems to work. I went to an Apple Store in Walnut Creek CA to raise complaints. I don’t need a new phone as I don’t want to add bills. The Apple Store manager kept insisting that my unit is out of warranty. My IP7+ looks brand new as it is very well kept. The manager said that this unit has no “Application Quality?”. I browsed the internet and noticed this is a common issue in IP7 and IP7+. The manager kept insisting that I will need to pay the cost of repair which is not worth it or trade in for 200 effin 50! i started to get irritated as this is clearly a KNOWN issue on the product where it should not be happening for an 800 effin dollar phone! Bought the phone 2017 and after 2 years and 2 months this is what i got for the amount i paid. Apple should not charge the cost of repair as this is something out of expectation in buying an expensive phones! How can people with the same issue go after Apple ? This is like i bought a cheap, disposable Chinese Phone!

The manager’s reason is that i should have subscribed for insurance plan! I replied, I don’t have to subscribe as I am a very well kept person in using my phone. Also i don't want to add more bills as I trust Apple Products where every customer expects high quality investment as it will not break as easily as that! My unit has no accidental damage and never had history. Additional bill for insurance is like paying additional cost just to get the quality you are expecting which is freaking annoying! I would accept if my case is accidental damage. Once again, I bought Apple as i believe i invested money for Product's QUALITY and not pay extra to get the QUALITY. Now, the trust is gone as clearly this is I have bought @#$#in Chinese Iphone! Your product is now the same as Chinese cheap products!

I am having this same issue. At one point, I was able to get a call through and was able to have a conversation with somebody for about a miniute before it went silent again. Otherwise, there is complete silence on both ends during incoming and outgoing calls. And the iPhone speaker is greyed out. I just installed the new update one week ago. If that’s the issue, I hope Apple can fix it soon!
