Did not work for me.
Hi Chris
Another thing I have picked up is that there is no sound from the speaker when I make any call, and the person can't here me on the other side as well. I can make calls thru my vehicle's stereo via Bluetooth but the speaker is still greyed out even though both parties can here each other as normal.
Also does not pick up a headset when connected.
Itunes music and videos received thru whatsapp works fine thru speaker.
Regards,
Leon
This is crazy , but this worked for me

Pressing on the screen while starting. Defo a IC chip issue
What 40? Where did you take it ???
Best deal I have found is $120usd here in the states ... is that a local repair shop or a large operation?
I spoke too soon, it resolved the speaker grayed out but still can't hear both end when call is in progress. It's like were both muted.......
This is a known hardware issue in IP7 and IP7+ units. There is an ongoing class lawsuit for this case.... let’s wait and see what is Apple’s course of action....
Hay I fixed the problem by using Bluetooth headphones , super annoying but at least your phone isn’t junk.
All I know is this is the last iPhone I ever buy!
Similar design issue on 6+ called the “touch disease”. Apple has really high quality standards, but dropped the ball on this one.
Try resetting it(soft reset, not factory) multiple times. If this doesn't work, go to the Apple Store.
I am having this same exact issue with the 12.3.1 update ... SOMEONE PLEASE HELP
I have same problem.
I am unable to use my phone to talk. The iphone speaker, facetime and add a call are greyed out.
Same here my phone looks new. Did not expect this kind of support from Apple.
My iPhone is having the same problem, I cannot see my speaker button once I make a call. Is there an easy fix for this?
Try soft reset your iPhone. If it’s a XS do the answer above
