Itunes videos keep flickering when viewed

Hello, I'm currently trying to watch a movie on my MacBook Pro. However, when the video Is in full screen it flickers. I've never had this issue with video anywhere else, its simply with iTunes videos. if I have a iTunes video thats not in full screen, this problem isn't present. I'm not sure how to describe the flickering, it feels like the image is shifted up or to the side. It only lasts a split second, before returning back to its original spot. any help is truly appreciated.

Happens to me too, both with iTunes videos and Safari (e.g. Netflix), mostly when there are subtitles involved. It's very annoying, particularly on iTunes where the flicker is more noticeable. I've seen other graphical glitches too, for example when waking the computer from sleep, there's a white noise-like screen for one or two seconds before the login screen shows up.

I had to go back to macOS Sierra (10.12.6) where everything works fine. It's worrying that this issue isn't solved after 4 major updates to High Sierra.

Have always had the exact same issue since getting my MacBook Pro last summer, I’ve got the Retina display with 16G of RAM. Deactivating the subtitles does seem to help resolve th issue though.

Apple obviously doesn’t care to fix the issue, which is enraging considering when you pay for a premium device, you expect it to at least play the **** movies they sell you on their own platform correctly.

Hey, i recently noticed this when i tried watching the new Westworld series. It's sad this hasn't been fixed. I can hold out until the Fall for OS Mojave and hope they sharpened up iTunes. I also enjoy having captions switched on, but it does exacerbate the symptoms.

My only work around in the meantime is to watch the player outside of fullscreen, which isn't optimal, but at least it doesn't flicker and I can keep my captions on.

Prior to finding this, I did reset the PRAM and the SMC but it did nothing to sort the glitch.

Hi,

I have exactly the same issue with my MBPro. It's worse when subtitles are activated.

When watching a show or movie without subtitles activated, the "jump" effect almost disappears completely.

It looks to me like an iTunes issue as the movies/shows do not "jump" when I'm using the quicktime player for the same file in full screen.

Hi there,

Exactly the same situation here. It happens only when playing the movie within iTunes. It gets worse with subtitles on. There need to be a solution to this problem. Since there are a lot of people experiencing the same issue there is no doubt that this is a bug in the software and we need some kind of update to iTunes.

I have a MBPro 13", 2016 Touchbar with the latest OS.

I'm having the same issue! I have a MacBook Pro 15-inch (2017), running 10.13.4 and iTunes version 12.7.4.80. Videos "jump" whenever I make them fullscreen, or whenever I start after pausing, adjust the volume, etc.; basically, if I do anything, the video "jumps."

This issue also recently caused a major graphics glitch on my whole laptop; I exited out of a fullscreen movie that was "jumping", noticed all of the boxes on my iTunes were showing up empty, my top menu bar had no text, and when I tried to open System Settings, the whole front box was black (and, at one point, was full of green artifacts).

I did a wipe and a clean install after the graphics issue, but just now I tried to play a TV show in fullscreen, and when I exited, the cover art was blank (it has since come back, but it definitely made me want to avoid fullscreen for the time being).

eta: I want to add that restarting my computer did clear the graphical glitches I had (missing text, empty boxes), but didn't fix the iTunes "jumping."

I have exactly the same problem, it first appeared in iTunes after I bought a movie and watched it in full screen, when I turn fullscreen off it does not appear. With subtitles it is worse. It appears on some websites too when streaming in fullscreen. I had to watch that movie on apple TV because it was unwatchable with the flickering appearing every 5 seconds...

I just bought a macbook pro 15" for 3000$...can't believe this is not fixed yet, will return my macbook if this does not get fixed.

Having same issue, late 2016 MBP Touch Bar.....really annoying and with the money I paid for this laptop this is unacceptable. Especially when the problem is happening using iTunes and TV shows and Movies purchased from Apple. No third-party excuse for them, this is their laptop, hardware, software and media from them causing this.

Very disappointing.
