App Store (audio) Draining Battery

I keep my phone in low power mode and it’s back to normal. Also turn my data off so it’s wifi only as the App Store is using all my data. Not ideal but has to be done until it’s fixed

You said you installed iOS 11.4. That is a beta release.

Yup, that’s all I did. Togged BT on and off. So far, it’s been a week or so with no hiccups.

So you installed a beta version, which BY DEFINITION of what a beta is, has bugs, and you found one. I hope you reported it using the instructions that you received when you signed up for the beta program.

That's certainly something to check. One option is to leave it plugged in overnight. I realize that masks the problem, but, if you turn on iCloud backups, if you do charge overnight you will have a fresh iCloud backup every day.

So yesterday I read over and over about this issues, and how it seemed to affect a majority of folks who used an Apple Watch, but what about those of us who dont use a watch? Or those of us who dont use bluetooth for anything? I was stumped about what to do.. So, I did what I read on reddit.. I simply toggled it on, left it sit a few mins, then toggled it off.. (this was yesterday after my first post here...) Plugged my phone it and actually kinda forgot about it.. Wen too work today, fiddled around as I always do on social media, watched some videos, etc etc. On my way home, 12 hours later, I was surprised to see I still had quite a bit of battery left.. then it hit me, I had forgotten about the "App audio drain" so I went and checked my battery stats... App Audio was no where to be found within the last 24 hours.. isn't that odd? so... ill keep an eye on it and see what happens over the next few days.

Hi haven't heard from Apple after sending them my diagnostics logs. On the other hand I haven' h any battery rain caused by appstore lately. Not even before updating to 11.4. For now appstore consume at most 1-2% for me.

Do contact them, it's positive for us user the more people that contact them about this issue. Hopefully the find this bug and fix it

I did contact them today. I had talked on the phone with apple support. This particular person said they hadn't seen anything like this so they'll probably make note of it and report it too. All in all, they gave me two options: factory reset and restore, or wait for the next iOS update, which I'm guessing is going to be 11.4.1. I think I'm going to wait on that for now and just troubleshoot in the meantime. See if anything works. I'd really rather not reset and set up as new. This is definitely a software bug and should be fixed in about one or two updates. So, it's the waiting game for me.

Yes i previously posted that a full factory reset worked but after about a week the problem came back. I upgraded to 11.4 and the problem persisted. We went back to the Apple Store and they replaced my phone and were completely cluesless as to why it was happening!

It’s a simple thing. Wait for iOS 11.4 or join the beta program and get it early. Everything is safe in your phone and it’s easy.

If you have a backup made with 11.3 that is user data only, not iOS. And you cannot install a previous version after upgrading without hacking the phone. Assuming you did not hack it, restoring user data fixed it. Which means that it wasn't an iOS problem.

When my phone has this problem app store stands for 40% battery usage. When I don't have a problem less than 1% and not visible sometimes. It's hard to say how and when this happens, it just happens. I have done some diagnostics log and sent to Apple, after they received it they told me it was a great log and they had some to work with. They have found something interesting in this log but I don't know what. The should come back to me after some more research. So in my opinion the have found something of interest in this log and are fault tracing it to understand what's happening. They also said that this doesn't happen to everyone, there are some devices that has this issue but not everyone.

Just an update on my iPhone 6, after the above setting changes, that App Store (audio) changed to a game recently installed and played for some times. To me it seems somehow it got catalogued as App Store (audio) for that game.

Did the exact same thing. Reset and start up as new but it didn't work for me. Same issue came back the same day. Now I have downloaded 11.4 and hopefully there is a fix for this there.

Why don't you charge the phone overnight, every night? If you also enable iCloud backups, the phone will create a backup every night when the phone is connected to power, Wi-Fi and locked.
