Can anyone here answer this malware question?

Hello 😕

If an Apple computer has been infected with malware, when the machine is updated through Apple 'Updates', will such malware be automatically removed in the process, thus leaving the computer in a 'clean' condition once again?

One answer I've seen given in answer to this question was " It depends on the update, and whether or not Apple is aware of the particular malware that's been installed".

Is that answer factually correct?

I'm still at a loss to understand what aspect of ClamXAV you feel is unsafe. I don't recall anybody else having ever reached that conclusion.

I'd like to confirm that I have no qualms with the open source ClamAV facility.

Perhaps if you visit the Facebook page of ClamXav and review the user posts there you might better understand my reservations. You, too, might also find it strange that only 280 people 'follow' ClamXav - for such a well-respected anti-malware facility that seems insignificant. By comparison, Kaspersky has 3,344,675 people following.

And do what? Read the same conspiracy theories that you have posted over there under other aliases? Or maybe get a chance to see someone's real name and Facebook account? Is that your real goal here?

ClamXAV is perhaps the smallest of the Mac-only antivirus tools. It is outsold many times over even by the non-functional, obvious scamware apps. It is ridiculous to compare it to one of the world's largest antivirus products with a huge installed base on Windows.

Really, what is this obsession you have for this tiny company? There are so many antivirus tools that are blatant scams. Why don't you direct your efforts into finding out who is behind those products? Or is it true that all you are really after is innocent people's real names and Facebook accounts?

If you are seriously believing in nonsensical rubbish such as "likes" or "follow" on Facebook or elsewhere, you have my sympathies.

If I could like this post, I would. 😉

But that's 99% of what ClamXAV accomplishes. The rest is just a GUI for the unix scan engine and additional OSX specific malware signatures (definitions) that operates solely at user level, except to run the uninstaller.

Perhaps if you visit the Facebook page of ClamXav and review the user posts there you might better understand my reservations.

1. We discussed that before and I told you that I can't see any of that because I no longer log in and now that I know Facebook even tracks non-members, I won't be doing that any more, either.

2. Today I learned that Facebook has been hosting ~120 private discussion groups who flagrantly promoted a host of illicit activities. Deleted Facebook Cybercrime Groups Had 300,000 Members.

3. As we keep telling you, Facebook is not the proper place for technical discussions or the type of issues raised here.

4. I'm finished going to other sites you keep direct us to and try to guess what your problems are. You will need to clearly outline them here to get any more answers from me.

I am not a shadow puppet, I originally asked the question on ClamXAV Facebook Page and that is the answer I was given by Mark Allen. Do you guys here support the use of ClamXAV now that is no longer available on the app store

As I have told you numerous times before, please stop with the conspiracy theories. No one wants to hear them.
