White grid icon instead of the original

„Some of the applications that I've downloaded recently have white grid icons instead of the original ones. The applications run correctly. I tried reinstalling them, rebooting and resetting the ipad, logging out of the Apple Store - none of these solves the problem.“

I copied this from an older thread from 2014. This problem appears to me still beeing without an answer, allthough already many times addressed in community forums like this. Anybody around who can provide a solution?

Are those app iPhone apps i.e. are the designed for iPhones/iPod Touches ? I have a couple of iphone apps on my iPad and they have the grid icon, I assume because their developers haven't coded them properly for iPads

Sounds like the apps are missing artwork. Over the years, there have been several changes to what are required of developers. About all you can do is contact the support provided by the app developers and let them know of the issue.

At any rate, missing app icon artwork will not prevent the app from functioning. I would guess though that the app may not contain optimized images for the latest devices as well. So some images may look to be low resolution. Still, shouldn't block functionality.

Here is their reply:

"Thank you so much for reaching out and taking the time to contact us about this issue! Please excuse the delayed response.

Unfortunately, this seems to be a bug on all iPad devices at the moment. I can assure you that our developers are already aware of the problem and try to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

In the meantime, I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this causes and hope that we can bring back the proper Stocard app icon on your iPad soon."
