Problems with itunes and hdmi

I'm using itunes 12.7.4 on a windows 10 MSI computer. Windows and all drivers are updated.

My purchased and downloaded videos won't play over HDMI connected to my Samsung TV. If I start itunes with the HDMI connected the video opens to a frozen screen. If I start the video and then connect the computer to HDMI then the video will play but the sound won't play through the TV. Also, occasionally if I have been using HDMI for something else, like Amazon video, then I have to reboot the computer to get any sound at all out of iTunes (even for music).

I have tried both the Direct Audio and the Windows Audio settings. The HDMI is the default audio connection and the troubleshooting test plays sound through the HDMI cord. This problem is exclusively with iTunes. I have no HDMI issues with any other application: it works perfectly with Amazon, YouTube, etc.

Can anyone help with this?

Thank you!
