Mac constantly asking for Facebook password

After changing my Facebook password, I keep getting a notification from the system (NOT the browser) "Facebook Password Required: Enter your password in Internet Accounts." In System Preferences -> Internet Accounts, clicking on Facebook gives me the message "Can't connect to the account Facebook. Enter the password for user [MY NAME]" When I put the password in, it says "Unable to verify account name or password."

The password is correct. I can log in to facebook just fine through the browser or on my phone, but after I changed the password in the browser, it broke the integration with mac apps through the system (for instance, I cannot post a photo to facebook from the photos app anymore). I've tried deleting the facebook account entirely from System Preferences and making a new one, but the same problem occurs.

I'm on a Macbook Air running the current version of High Sierra.

I was having this issue and I think I've found a solution. Go to security and login then choose two-factor authentication. At the bottom you have an option for recovery codes. Get this list and choose one. Put that in as your password and it will accept it. Haven't had the nagging message for some time now.

I'm having the same problem running Sierra.

Deleting and recreating the Facebook account in System Prefs / Internet Accounts didn't work.

Deleting all references to Facebook in Keychain Access, which includes iCloud items didn't work.

When you set up the Facebook account in internet Accounts it seems to go correctly, then you get a notification asking to re-enter the password, so you leave the Facebook account pane, re-enter it, the sheet comes down asking for the password, and it gives you the same "Unable to verify" message.

So, the system Share Sheet is now broken, but you can get the Calendar integration back:

  1. Go to Facebook in the browser, then go to "Events"
  2. Look on the right for an "Upcoming events" link.
  3. Right-click / command click (not single click) and Copy Link.
  4. Go to Calendar and File -> New Calendar Subscription.
  5. Paste the link into the url. Don't make it an iCloud calendar - since your iOS devices are probably still logged in ok and getting their calendar info direct from Facebook.

Contacts, share sheet and notifications seems to be a different story. Contacts as a Webdav account only spends a lot longer trying to authenticate, but still fails.
