Does the iOS 11.4 update fix the mic issues for iPhone 7?

It couldn’t be resolved over the phone... I booked an appointment at a Genius Bar, at first it looked like I might be charged to fix the phone, but I showed the guy 5-6 links to Websites highlighting the known issue and after checking the phone was in good condition with no visible damage, he just replaced it with a brand new phone... he told me the FireWire port was faulty (and it’s a known fault affecting lots of phones) that fault stops the Microphone working, even though the charger still worked. Mine broke directly after upgrading the software. I believe Apple do a postal service for the phone if you live too far from a store. They told me I could post it to them for the technician to look at.

Not really. Apple is saying its a hardware issue and because my warranty is done it is not their issue. So it would cost me $350 to fix it.

Apple couldn’t resolve this remotely so they booked me in at the Genius Bar in the Apple Store... they said it was a fault with the lightening port where the charger plugs in.... even though the phone was outside the warranty, but because the phone was in perfect condition (apart from the faulty lightening port) they replaced it with a new phone... No charge...

I have the same issue. Updated to iOS 11.4 and even did a factory reset, still it doesn’t work. The worst thing is that even while there are many articles saying that people are having these issues on iPhone 7, Apple repair centres are not ready to acknowledge.

I’m sure you will get a new phone out of it. If you think about it, 200 phones out of millions is a very rare thing but it’s a pain in the butt for sure. I couldn’t make any calls, take videos with sound or use the microphone on the keyboard.

I just took my in my phone a couple days ago to the Genius Bar at the Apple store and got new phone (even though it’s out of warranty). I didn’t want to take it to Best Buy or any other stores bc I knew it was going to be handle correctly at the Apple store.

I was told by the Apple guy, it’s a known issues that Apple is aware about.

Just make sure you back up your phone before going in. Good luck and take care. If all else fails, show the Apple people this forum.

• My mic problem starts when i updated to 11.4 Tmobile USA variant.
• I chatted with apple support
• went to genius bar, want to charge me $349 to do a swap since they stopped replacing out of warranty for this issue for free at the start of july. No one can downgrade me back to 11.2
• chatted again with senior support who set up a call with customer relations
• got call from customer relation (***) then another call from senior support (***) who offered me a $200 gift card that only works on accessories and that's the best he can offer. because the internal document shows the free replacement is only for 11.3 and 11.3.1 iphone 7 devices that ended in May and not for 11.4 devices.
• Told me to send a feedback at Feedback - iPhone - Apple under Software/Hardware Compatibility and hopefully there will be enough people to send it so Apple *might* agree to replace it.

No. In fact, it appears from owners that any update following 11.3 may kill the mic. For my part, I realize that my phjone began to have problems following the 11.3 update - intermittently, I received calls and could not hear or be heard by the caller. It was the 11.4 update that caused my mic to stop working altogether.

Before updating my iPhone 7 to iOS 11.4 my phone worked fine but after updating to 11.4 my microphone stopped working, also any headphone connected would not be read. Do not update your phone

They didn't fixed yet. yesterday i update my iPhone 7 plus to IOS 11.4 .

Now i can't make any call with my phone . i try to used different apps like whtsapp to make a call but same problem because mike does not support. they just showing me restart your phone then try agian.

I don't know what to do. Please help me if anyone know about this.

you may try... setting/general/restrictions/microphone/allow changes

No. Apple was not willing to replace my phone. I tried everything. I ended up upgrading. The iPhone 8 doesn’t seem to have the same issues. It was a horrible hassle and very frustrating.

I have an iPhone 7 that was working fine until I updated it to the iOS 11.4 update. Now the audio in any video I record ( on any app ) doesn’t come through and the sound through the earphones don’t work, at all.

Nope, mine still not working. but only on third party apps such and on Voice Memo. SIM Phone still working just fine. I'm using an iPhone 7 Plus .

They replaced my phone... no charge at all, even though it was out of warranty.... couldn’t have asked for better customer service...

Mic Issue is STILL NOT FIX! Now we are receiving LOTS OF MEMBERS HAVING PROBLEM With their Financial Account App Crashing after the Update!!! This Is Rubbish!!!
