Apple Software Update doesn't work

In short, I cannot install a new version of iTunes.

Over the past few weeks, the Apple Software Update has been popping up offering to install iTunes version 12.7.4. but when i try to install it, it fails. I then try to download the files first and it says it has an invalid signature. I have not been too concerned because I have already got iTunes 12.7.4. so it shouldn't be offering it to me in the first place.

However today, the Apple Software Update offered iTunes 12.7.5 and iCloud for windows 7.5.0. but the same thing happens, it just fails each time. If i go into iTunes and select check for update it just kicks off the Apple Software Update and it does the same thing. i.e. " 'files shared by these update' has an invalid signature. The download has been removed."

I am on Windows 10. Please help, how do i fix the broken Apple Software Update tool to get the latest version of iTunes

thanks ...

See this ASC User provided tip for troubles with iTunes and Windows. Read through the document before you start anything and find the issue that best describes your problem. I suggest first removing iTunes from the device completely, following the instructions in the document and then download again. Make sure you temporarily disable your anti-virus software before doing so. Then you can turn it back on when you are done. Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. When reinstalling right-click on the installer and use run as administrator. It may also help to temporarily disable any non-Microsoft anti-virus.

Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.

The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with third party software.

Your library and device backups should be unaffected by these steps but there are links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

Ah, but that's the problem. The Installer doesn't not work. It error's-out. I have to go to the Website to download and install the updated versions:

If you downloaded iTunes from Apple's website

  1. Open iTunes.
  2. From the menu bar at the top of the iTunes window, choose Help > Check for Updates.
  3. Follow the prompts to install the latest version. (X! The pop-up Installer doesn't work.)

Since the 64-bit version, the 'local' installer will not work anymore. I've been coming to the site to download and install version updates. There is an Installer 64-bit link about 'older' video cards. How old is old? I got a video card from Nov 2010, and it's most likely older than that. I listen to podcasts 99% of the time, so video playing is rare for me.

Is there a 64-Bit Installer I can use, other than the above? Otherwise, I'll keep coming to the Website to Install - except I have version 12.7.4, and it and the latest version are missing the dates of the podcasts, unless anyone wants to right-click on each listed podcast to see the date. Why they'd get rid of the dates? No need to download the latest iTunes for Windows today. I'll wait until they fix the date issue.
