iOS 11.4 Battery Drain!

Why and how do I fix the new issue with battery drain after updating to iOS 11.4? Before updating, might loose as much as 10% overnight on my 6s. After update it now drains completely from 100% over the course of the night to the point that it won’t start until I plug it in and let it charge a bit. iPad air2 drains much more as well, but not to the same extreme.

my 6s was having the severe battery drain after installing 11.4. Had to charge every 6 hrs with moderate use. blocking my home wifi to the 5g band helped a bunch, was back to near normal. I did a Network Settings reset and afterwards the 5g connection worked much better as far as near normal battery drain. 2 days ago i rejoined the Apple Beta iOS tester group to be able to download and install Public Beta 2 of iOS 11.4.1. Having run that for 1.5 days now, I can say my phone is back to normal. Yesterday i had 19 hours of standby and 3.75 hrs of usage and was still at 45% when i went to bed.

Beta firmware has its potential downfalls, so only choose this if understood. My phone is not a critical or business related device so was able to do this for my situation without fear.

My intuition told me to wait and not to update but....

My phone shut down when my wife and I were trying to coordinate who would pick up our sick toddler from daycare...I was out at lunch and had to wait to get back to the office to call her from my desk phone because Apple bricked my phone. One moment 98% charged...seconds later, paper weight!

The worse part of this ordeal, for me so far, was when I couldn't transfer recent pics of my little girl to iCloud or iTunes to perform a full reset in hopes of resolving this issue. Did anyone else have this problem?

Gee, this couldn't be continued "battery manipulation" on older iPhones, after they apologized and promised never do it again...right?

Add me to this list of iPhone 6S users who are experiencing rapid battery drain as a result of Apple's software upgrades. They say it is not intentional but looking at this growing list of disgruntled iPhone owners I would say that just as despicable as an intention to force us to lay out our hard earned cash on a newer generation of iPhone are the crickets from Apple support as they are silent to this thread.

If I do end up upgrading to a new phone it will not be an Apple, this is disgraceful.

F**king incredible. I just finished paying off my phone. Now it is usable for my job, no job, no money. And I have no other phone or landline. what th heck am I supposed to do Now?? After more than thirty years of buying Apple products, I’m going to have to steer clear. Steve Jobs is rolling over in his grave right now. I hope this tanks their stock. I have no money for this. Crying.

Sorry buddy Apple don’t have perfect answer for this fix....May be in future they can get some but for short term u can switch to android.

Having same problem, spoke to customer service but they helpless after trying written trouble shooting with them to read.

Taken to Apple authorised Center here in Auckland,Newzealand to change the battery but after testing battery those good people suggested they can change the battery for 29 rather than 79 but changing battery won’t fix this Drain issue as ur battery health is un good state, they are also helpless to fix this issue n suggested to wait for new bug fix update from Apple.

NOW TAKE UR DECISION WHAT U WANT TO DO WITH UR EXPENSIVE PHONE.

The problem is not the battery...Apple already admitted this; the problem they proudly proclaim, now, is that 14.1 is very taxing on older batteries. My battery was replaced 7 months ago and everything was fine until the last update which was supposed to fix camera issues, etc. Now, my phone shuts down when I answer a phone call after a minute or so...it would then display the recharge icon but when I plug it in it starts up and shows I still have 94%.

If you google iPhone intermittent shutdowns, you'll get info in which previous iPhones that were plagued with the same issue could only be fixed with an updated firmware, etc...in these cases it had nothing to do with the battery which Apple also claimed was the culprit.

I was just on the phone with a "senior advisor" and they continue to proclaim that 11.4 is the immaculate cure-all and end-all to iPhone illnesses! They absolutely refuse to acknowledge that there is an issue here that adversely affects our everyday life.

She was still trying to sell me a battery at a reduced price even after I informed her it was replaced recently! She followed script no matter how much facts I presented to her. Apple simply does not care!!!

It has been over a month since I did the upgrade. I have tried every fix on this site and some I found on the internet and nothing has worked. I leave my phone plugged in at home because it drains so fast. Yesterday I went out for an hour and left with a 100% charge. I did not use the phone while I was out and came back with 45%. I have been to the Apple store for help and their solution was saying they could sell me an iPhone8. I am not replacing one headache for another. They say os12 is coming out this hear. How can I trust doing another Apple update after the mess they have made with this one and they don't seem to care. Very disappointed in Apple.

The only way, sad to say, that anything will be corrected is through the courts, which usually entails a class action suit. If one is not the first named complainant in the class action, anyone else who is a potential co-victim/customer of Apple's usually only receives a $5.00 off coupon on your next Apple product 😢. I enjoyed receiving the notices of class settlements informing me I get "Happy face emoji certificate" as a result of the class suit and the law firm bringing the suit makes millions in fees. Never join a class action unless you are the first named complainant. Refuse your participation settlement then you can sue separately and get something of value, if one has the finances to bring a suit, of course. Apple can't see a customer relations problem developing evidently.

This is exactly what I was trying to communicate to them...I simply want an opportunity to restore my phone to the previous version that has proven to be stable and effective but...

So, I've been going back-and-forth with the senior advisor and she insisted that I purchase a new battery despite facts pointing to 11.4 update as the culprit. She based her decision on the selective information that I sent her from the Battery Health tool...which I of course, rejected, because I feel the information actually supported our case more so.

My biggest concern is that Battery Health tool is currently a Beta version, basically untested to the point of being reliable. Secondly, it shows that even with the increase demand of 11.4, my battery is still almost 80% effective so it should not shut down after less than a minute of answering a phone call or even trying to get IMEI information. Something inherent in 11.4 is responsible for the drainage and shutdowns!

She completely ignored the top, right battery meter showing my battery at 100%, and ignored again the 78% battery capacity coming from this tool. Is it any surprise that she focused on the last paragraph to try and take money more money from loyal customers? My battery is "significantly degraded" at almost 80% effectiveness?? Really...ummmnn...what??? ...So Apple products are "significantly degraded" after 22% usage???

At any rate, good luck to everyone trying to get this sorted...I'm done with Apple and am going to try out my brother's Samsung S5 while I contemplate/research my next phone purchase.
