Wifi not working with iOS 11.4

I upgraded to iOS 11.4 and since then wi-fi doesn't work.

It's on on the control centre and in the settings menu I see the name of the network next to "wi-fi" as if it was connected, but when I go into the wifi menu the switch is off and I cannot turn it on.

I tried everything, from resetting network settings, to turning off network assist and the Wi-fi networking on location services, and nothing worked.

Also tried to set up the phone as new and the problem was solved, but then when I restored the back up I got the same issue again. I'd really like to avoid having to set up the device as new, because I don't have enough space on the cloud for everything on my phone, so I'd lose content anyway and I don't want that.

Anyone else with the same issue?

Do you think the next patch will fix it?

When will there be a next patch?

Yes, I'm assuming the iOS version has something to do with this issue, because before the upgrade to iOS 11.4 everything worked just fine, and now it doesn't. I would say this has to do with some interaction between the upgrade and the data that was already on my phone, no? So possibly a patch will fix it?

I know several other people with the same exact issue and I don't think we all have the same corrupt app or data - but we all have iOS 11.

Hi,

I have iPhone SE and iPad Air. I have both 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz wi-fi router. My devices have never lost a connection till now. Not on any iOS software. My iPad Air is 4 years old and my iPhone SE is one year old. They are now both on iOS 11.4. I use WPA2 with AES encryption on both 5 and 2.4 GHz bands. My passkey is 20+ characters long. Sometimes I use 5 GHz band and sometimes 2.4 GHz band.

So if your router allows, use WPA2 with AES encryption and try whatever band you have.

Hope this helps.

I also have Huawei modem/router which my ISP has lent. Your signal strength may go up and down. That should not be a problem. Signal quality is important. But if you have severe interference from your neighbors, then you should change channels in the Huawei router one by one and test which channel gives you best reception. Normally, routers do this automatically. But assuming the router could not find the best channel for your environment, you can do it manually.

Hope this helps.

I drove back from the Florida Keys two days ago to Chicago and finally let my iphone 7 plus phone update to 11.4 while I slept. Now today I search and find out I am not the only one that cannot stay connected to a Wi-Fi that I know works. The Wi-Fi is on and off and seems to reconnect if I get 1 foot away from it but then walk away and I can’t hold a signal even at -40 dB which is not that weak of a signal... it will not stay connected. There must be millions out there thinking it is their Wi-Fi that is not working and it’s really the upgrade to 11.4 ....apple please fix this ! I have to switch over to my Internet connection to stay connected and use up my monthly 22 gigs.

All started immediately after I changed my phone over to 11.4.

Same thing here, no WiFi connectivity after "upgrading" to iOS 11.4 today.

Tried Resetting Network Settings, Switching off/on WiFi, close proximity to router, switch off Ask to Join Networks. Nothing of these work.

I am amazed that Apple does not have a patch more than a month after release of this iOS version, which nullifies the WiFi capabilities of iPhones. Is Apple going to pay for data usage through our providers?

Having the same issue on my 6s. Wifi only works if I am standing within a few feet of the router. As I move away the signal weakens and dies. It worked fine before I upgraded to 11.4. Basically, I have no wifi now. Bluetooth seems to be a lot weaker as well since the upgrade - it disconnects constantly. Tried resetting and reboothe device and it made no difference.

I just upgraded to 11.4.1. This is still broken. I'm absolutely infuriated. I've been an Apple user since 1988. I just had a MacBook Pro screen go bonkers after an update and, between this and batterygate, my iPhone 6 has basically be rendered useless for most of the past year. I'm pretty much done with Apple at this point.

Hi I have a similar problem. I’m running iOS 11.4.1. The WiFi button does not usually work. I have to reset my phone several times (say average of 6,) until it works. But if the phone goes into sleep mode the WiFi switches off and the button becomes stuck again. The phone is generally acting weird at times too by switching off, then on, at random and moving through Safari via screen buttons I have not pressed.

Driving me crazy at the moment. Ggrr
