Impossible to Add or Remove iPhone's Ringtone via iTunes
Hello,
I'd like to follow up on the thread I started some time ago:
Can’t Delete Ringtone from iPhone 8 (iTunes 12.7)
We've since then updated the iOS to 11.4, the iTunes's version is 12.7.5.9. My issue described in the previous thread persists — I'm still unable to remove a ringtone from my iPhone using iTunes. However, I've found out that I cannot add any new ringtones using the same method, either. The ringtones just won't sync.
I've got the “Manually manage music and videos” option enabled. I tried to disable and re-enable it before, and it didn't make any difference.
In the Tones section, the ringtones are greyed out. Those in the screenshot aren't even on my iPhone anymore (I removed them using the iFunBox), but they still appear in this list nonetheless. When I add any new tones, they also appear greyed out like this, and after hitting the Sync button, they never appear in the phone. Next time I enter the Tones under “On My Device”, the ringtone list looks exactly like this again.
I've tested it with another iPhone, and it does exactly the same thing here. This is why I haven't reset the phone to the factory settings; it doesn't look like it would do the job (plus, it's a rather lengthy and bothersome procedure, so if it is a solution, I'd like to have some reassurance that it really helps).
Using the conventional methods available in the GUI, I didn't manage to figure it out. I'd like to ask whether someone came across this before and found a feasible solution — meaning, made it work in iTunes again, not through third-party solutions.
Thanks in advance.
