This forum is not fully compatible with iOS Safari

This very Apple’s forum (Apple Support Communities) is not fully compatible with iOS‘s Safari.

It is so hard to use this it, like it was made strictly for desktop using and not for iOS devices as well.

For example:

When you start new discussion and typing text in Comments window, the typing behavior is out of this world!

It so infuriating!

Autocorrection is glitching or not working in a half of the moments. Backspacing is erasing sometimes two spaces instead of one. Backspacing does not erasing words after a few seconds, just continues erasing letter by letter but slowly. New sentence sometimes does not capitalize first letter. Sometimes you can’t place cursor into a wanted place. And so on, and so on.

A bunch of weird behavior of typing!

Or...

Trying to crop profile photo is complete nightmare. It is not cropping, it’s squeezing it!

Why Apple’s own forum is not compatible with Apple‘s own iOS devices? Is this a joke?

Sometimes Apple completely don’t give a heck about things.

Curious.

All of us have not been able to reproduce your issue.

You have replicated on everything you touch & with every browser.

What is common? = You.

Your video would show us what you are doing, but you can only "link" YouTube videos from Apple's YouTube account

Share a "link" to the video stored on some cloud service - iCloud should do it, but I do not use iCloud, so I cannot tell you steps

Curious. I've seen it, but have never tried the video button. It does clearly state you have to provide a URL to where the video is. It can't be placed inline with the post.

User uploaded file

Let's try one…

And you are correct. It won't accept a valid URL. Keeps repeating the message in the image above.

Let's see what it does if I just paste the URL straight in…

Chicken bickering - YouTube

Edit: Well, that at least works as a direct link.

you said:

... a problem with iOS built, that was sent to our region

iOS build would NOT only affect ASC/JiveWare/TinyMCE performance - it would manifest itself in ANY TinyMCE environment - and maybe in other text entry environment

iPads did have an anomaly of typing "double caps" at the beginning of paragraphs at one time

PParagraph ....

You are using an "English" iOS keyboard to type here in ASC, right?

What other language keyboards do you use?

Can you post with Russian/Cyrillic keyboard and get the same misbehavior?

To be honest, the best thing to do is to wait for you to link the video so that we can SEE what you are experiencing

I’m trying to copy text from a post just like I’m doing it from any article on any site.

I’m touching the display for a several seconds over the text which I’m trying to copy, and nothing’s happening.

UDT

sorry, it did eventuality copy.

I don’t know why it couldn’t do that before.

I actually tried to copy that legal information at the bottom of the page, and I succeeded. And maybe after that it became available to copy text from the post.

I mean, when I press this button, nothing happens. Even this window doesn’t pop up. This button‘s just grey for me.

Sorry, no explanation. It's strange that you are having so many issues no one here can replicate. Even from entirely different Macs and iPads.

I'm also beginning to believe deggie is correct. The problem can't move with you. It has to be something being experienced by everyone in your region.

The other software that could handle this size, and from what I've heard there is only one, runs exclusively on Windows. I doubt Apple was going to be interested in that. The software they used prior to Jive just could not keep up the size needed so Jive was it. Yes, they picked it but there really was no alternative. Unless you want to develop something that do so. I'm sure Apple would be interested. And yes software never looks all that complex when you are on the outside looking in and don't know the entire situation. Always easy to be a critic.

I would guess that for 99% of the people that use this system it serves its purpose and works just fine. I would even go so far that for 95% of the level 6 and higher they can live with it. And I don't think there is ANY system available that would make everyone happy. If you wrote it to your taste I'm sure some people would hate it and say your front end is a mess.

I do think the OP is running into problems that are localizations. I understand why you cannot undo marking a post as solved or helpful from a management standpoint. There used to be a system where you could vote points up or down. It was ugly.

But the fact of the matter is none of us has to be here. If you don't like the front end and the way the place works there is a very simple solution that many people have taken advantage of. Stop participating here. No one is forcing anyone to participate here.

I've put a lot of work into making it usable for me.

Adjust the format and layout of ASC Web Pages I use Waterfox a Firefox clone.

Either of these get rid of the banner and the need to ask to display everything.

How to improve your experience with Apple Support Communities ( ASC )

TT2's site navigation works for navigating around the ASC site. [ cannot say that about Apple's version. ] Apple version of the site map has links that make it difficult to post to ASC. TT2's doesn't. Which is easier for the user? Why doesn't apple adopt the hassle free version?

Apple uses pure white for the asc web pages. Nearly, everyone else uses off white. Apple used off white up which in a time. The pure white gives me headaches. I changed ASC back to grey like it once was.

Here is my typical helper post.

Many members agree with your assessment. However, Apple has a not invented here attitude. Try some of these tweaks.

To find you way around the communities, I use Turingtest2's "Site map of Communities and Categories"

Where else to find a help with a Apple devices, if not on Apple’s own forum.

Apple owns and maintains the websites, but the "helpers" are all other users volunteering their time. So, you could address your problem directly with Apple: online support "triage", call Apple support, and/or book an appointment at the Genius Bar. Or, as a first step, I search for my problem and try to educate myself by reading Apple's articles explaining what/where/how.

Personally, I've always dealt with Apple directly unless it's what appears to be an easy to fix software problem. After all, why not deal directly with the company who manufactured the device?

I didn’t fully understand this:

(one other that DOES when you don't want it to?)

Is English your native language? For me it is not.

Can you say it a bit more comprehensible?

And I didn’t really understand this either:

you are invoking the iOS keyboard

Please, describe your point in another way.

And, please, use punctuation. It is more easy to read with punctuation.

Just to clarify, I don’t intentionally provoke these bugs like that I showed to you.

They appear unnoticeably while I’m typing.

I showed these bugs in that manners just to clearly demonstrate you under which conditions they appear and how to replicate them.

This is settings of keyboard on my iPad:

User uploaded file

——————————————————

Test in some other "text editor" APP (not a browser) like Notes, Reminders, Messages, Mail or Pages

As I told before, typing acts normally everywhere in iPad (even in those apps you named), except this forum.

——————————————————

This shows that the virtual DEL "key" is stuck ON?

I was deleting this text just as I’m doing anywhere else in iPad. Namely I just tapped backspace button and held it until all text erases.

——————————————————

P.S.

It was nightmare to write this text.

When I was selecting text to quote, forum wasn’t let me scroll the screen up or down in order to get to the “quote” button. The screen was just twitching. So I had to paste text at the beginning, quote it there, then cut it and paste where it should be down below.

When I was quoting something, forum was just sending my screen to the bottom for no reason.

And sometime it just won’t select text.

I’ll show these adorable bugs tomorrow.

I was going to be done with this thread, but I do have one question: why do you have all those settings enabled??? Mine are OFF. I find that all those automatic functions tend to be glitchy. And it works great with this site both in Safari and Firefox. I will never use Chrome because that is a Google product and I don’t do Google.

As an aside, I really dislike the virtual keyboard, so I bought an excellent third party keyboard with real keys.
