Constantly have to rebuild mailbox

I have an IMAP account with a small provider and I have a Mac mini and a Macbook Pro, both on High Sierra.

Over the past 6 months I have had to regularly rebuild my Mail inbox for this account on my Mac mini, never on my Macbook Pro. My phone is Android and doesn't have this issue either.

I only know it's an issue when I get a new mail notification - the timestamp is correct for a new message but the content is an old one. It happened just now when my Macbook was sleeping though I have got it set up to check when asleep.

I've tried solutions around rebuilding mailbox, deleting files in the Library and delete and restore the account (which is set up with iCloud so settings are synchronised).

Any ideas what I should try next?
