Can text edit be deleted?

You can't delete default Apple apps and you don't need to, just don't use it. It only takes about 4.5 MB of disk space.

There's a simple fix. Choose any document type you want to open with a different app. Then "Get Info" (command-i). Go the the "Open With" pane and click the disclosure triangle. Then choose the application you want those types of documents to open with. After that click on "Change All".
Thanks but the problem is text edit just takes over and messes up the opening of my documents. I cant delete it and I can't deactivate it.
I don't want to use it.
Any way to delete text edit? One of the worst programs ever on Mac.
