You could wait for Apple to release a new build, but reading around it seems that if you have your iPhone connected and unlocked and reinstall iTunes 12.8 then your Mac may offer to install an additional update to work with the iOS 12 device.

I have run into a similar issue, too. After updating to IOS 12, my iPhone X no longer connects to iTunes 12.8. I am running OS X 10.10.5 Yosemite.

When connecting the phone to the computer, the following message pops up in iTunes:

"To use your iPhone with iTunes, you need to install OS X 10.11.4 (or later)."

I cannot find an option on the App Store to update to OS X 10.11.4.

And this is good enough for a user??? download more software........Maybe it should just work the first time!

absolute rubbish!

It originally updated to version 12.9.0.167 x64 and it is that is not finding my phone on my windows 10 pc

the link you gave me sends me to the same Itunes download to get the exact same. We don't all have a mac!

Garbage! So sacking apple off as they only care about money!

You've posted in an iTunes for Mac thread. You haven't noted that you're running Windows. This is a user to user support forum. It should go without saying that I'm as unimpressed as you are when things don't work properly, but that doesn't help anyone. Instead I offer what constructive workarounds I have on the basis of the information given. Try iOS device not showing in iTunes for Windows. I cannot promise it will help you, but it is the best I have to offer right now short of Contacting Apple Support who are likely to walk you through exactly the same steps.

I have absolutely no idea. I have read from your prior posts that Apple has told you today but so far there is nothing. It should have been released the day it was released for Windows. What is going on is inexcusable. Why do Mac users have to go through all these unnecessary steps to get itunes support, while an update came out for Windows users? I thought Apple was all about the "user experience."

Thanks for all your help regarding this issue. Apple should really be compensating you for assisting everyone since they actually pay morons who are completely incompetent and useless. People have gotten more help from you in a minute than spending an hour on the phone from someone with Apple. I almost feel like every time I call I am educating them. I guess it just made too much sense to release a Mac update for users on the same day they released one for Windows. Maybe they figured their customers enjoy going through this crap.

Wow -- so is Apple forcing everyone to install Mojave in order to get itunes 12.9? Even if you have High Sierra, Apple is basically telling their customers install are very latest, coolest software or you are out of luck? What if my Mac does not support Mojave? High Sierra is no longer recent enough to get the latest version of itunes? So apple is basically telling mac users too bad that itunes no longer recognizes your phone. Install are latest software or else?

I have an iphone 6, installed ISO 12, then upgraded my 2015 macbook pro to High Sierra. At that point Itunes no longer recognised or synced with my iphone. Instead it displays the message:

"iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. Could not allocate a resource."

I have been following the progress of this thread, waiting patiently for Itunes 12.9. I downloaded and installed mojave but itunes still seems to be 12.8.0.150 and still refuses to recognise/ sync and displays the same message. Is there any way out of this problem? Does mojave really contain itunes 12.9???
