How to turn off two factor authentication?
You can’t.
(Sorry for the “harsh-sounding” reality)
What makes you think that you need to do so?
So … since you’re going to have to “live with it” …
Recommend that you carefully review and thoroughly digest the two fairly important and informative articles linked below.
Pay particularly close attention to thoughtfully selecting and setting up Trusted Numbers … these become critical when you need to regain access to your account (e.g. lost, damaged, or stolen device).

But you do not own Apple online services. Your only choice is to use those or not use them. But if you choose to use Apple online services with your AppleID, Apple has every right, and responsibility, to ensure the data you choose to put on their systems is secure.
Apple 2 factor authentication has nothing at all to do with your devices. You can use a device without enabling 2FA if you wish to. 2FA is about securing your AppleID and the data on Apple’s systems associated with it.
Although in principal I agree with this, It would be totally pointless to own an
apple device with no account as then it’s effectively an over priced door stop.
I disagree as to nothing to do with devices as it causes too many problems with every device I own to be ignored and tolerated.
2FA is a great idea but make it work for everyone before forcing it on to us.
My biggest issue is that a company with the background of Apple can fail so epically with something that everyone else got right first time even dare I say Microsoft.
The decision to make this non removable after 14 days with absolutely no reminder is absurd.
Security is important to everyone but over complicated unreliable security defeats any useful gains and inflicts constant problems.
We as customers and consumers should retain the right to sign a disclaimer and revert back to the system that has always worked faultlessly for years and in the many many years I have used the old system and on multiple devices I have NEVER had and intrusion fraud or anything else.
As I have said here many many times 2FA needs to be fixed properly before it’s made compulsory and this has not happened.
I have noticed a very slight improvement since last update but certainly not enough to encourage anyone who has the option to stay away from to do just that and tell everyone else not to use it.
I have had so many issues and problems with this and no help from Apple or anywhere else I have persuaded the whole of my company and it’s associated companies to NOT replace any Apple devices and we are now going to Microsoft Windows so just from us that’s over 1200 units and that’s until it spreads.
So many other people found this problem is slowing and in
many cases stopping productivity that they will also do the same and that will only damage what was a well designed well loved platform just being destroyed by the lack of a simple off button.
The problem is really Apple and it’s we’re invincible attitude that is truly going to damage them Producing a new model every month and pre out dating devices for pure greed.
I used to be a firm believer in Apple but now they are just targeting the masses mostly kids with no idea that they are being pressured to buy the latest gadget simply to make more money for the corporate giant and its share holders.
The pre outdated models are more than capable of continuing to work flawlessly yet all support and apps are not available from Apple This is easily proved as by jailbreaking any older Apple device many thousands of apps are still available and work faultlessly even on iPad 1 so device is ok but Apple can’t make any money from it so they kill it.
enough ranting for now as had enough of Apple and its attitude bought myself a Microsoft surface pro with working 2Fa and all is great
Every time I open email on my Macbook Pro I am asked to login to iCloud with two factor verification, but it will not allow me to input the code. This is complete BS. I haven't been able to check email in months. Ive even tried changing the password many times and that does not work either. I'm over Apple!

What macOS version are you using? What mail client?
This is absolutely stupid. I followed the directions purely to get ride of the constant notification, this is the last time I let apple update my phone. They just keep making it worse and worse. If this continues with the weird rules (I’m already required to answer security question) and updates regularly kill my storage space and battery life. I’m likely not to get another Apple product ever again.

If you have security questions, you don't have 2FA. This long conversation is about 2FA.
Update issues are not relevant to this discussion.
Please start your own conversation.

Hey Apple, what happens if your phone is lost or stolen. You cant use FIND MY PHONE since you cant authenticate. Pretty dumb on your part.
First - I am not Apple
Second - this conversation is not about your issue. You are butting in to a long conversation about something else entirely.
Third - go to icloud.com/find and you do not need a 2FA code.
About time Apple did finally take notice of the thousands of complaints about 2FA As I have constantly said on here it’s the fact that the current state of 2FA simply doesn’t work properly and although there have been minor improvements the system is still fatally flawed
And I also did not intend to turn it on but like everyone else was tricked by notifications and a very misleading setup procedure and no reminder to turn it off before it’s permanent.
2FA works on other systems like Microsoft and android without constant intrusion so why can’t Apple fix the problem or allow it to be disabled until such time as the issues have been eradicated. Is this really too much to ask after all it’s our device and our security and Apple have as always removed any freedom of choice.
im well aware that most people are ok with 2FA and that’s fine but for the rest of us having daily and hourly problems it’s unnecessary and unreliable and not anymore secure than the old system. I phones are easily hacked using black arch and other such tools yet as usual Apple don’t provide any device protection just their system perhaps a more useful application of their time and investment maybe to include some form of anti malaware or other such device protection I have also contacted Apple in regards as to why not use NFC technology which most new iPhones already support and then the security is on your finger and not open to hackers via WiFi or Bluetooth or mobile data it’s a physical device with no external connection. Not heard anything back and don’t suppose I will but changing to Android for phone and already gone to windows so fairwell Apple

Throughout this entire 79 page long discussion there have been dozens of responses on how to submit feedback to Apple about your issue. Take a little personal initiative to find out how and submit your opinion directly to Apple.

Yep. Using the proper channel please.

This community is for asking and answering technical support questions. Do you have one we can answer?

But when you post here, you’re not telling Apple anything. Theses are user community forums. You can rant about any issue you like here about Apple policies and decisions, but not one user here works for Apple nor can anyone here change anything about it.
I rants as. Moderators on here don’t allow anything bad to be said about Apple ( so much for independent)
so I will simply say been on to support and feedback no help so like I said were all stuck with 2FA and as usual with Apple it’s there way or no way with so much bad feedback they should at least listen everyone supports security but only when it works or is really necessary
Two thoughts; neither are directly technical assistance but potentially could result in an eventual repair or update;
i would start with proper channels
Organize ;one collective voice of many is more than just “noise” or complaining.
move that voice somewhere it can be heard. ;
As has been clearly stated on here by moderators many times I know you are not Apple but as the largest Apple forum instead of moaning about people posting complaints about 2FA and other issues how about using the forum to lobby Apple into listening and fixing at least some of the issues I’m sure I speak for many others that the advice to contact Apple is a known waste of time as the support agents only get the information that’s already available on the web site and are of no further use. Apple DO NOT have a complaints system in place so basically unless the forum is able to use its membership population then what’s it really for.

Your message is important and well stated. This forum is mostly tech related. I agree there should be a place for these issues to be presented in a way in Apple could hear and possibly respond .
There IS a way to present the feedback to Apple. The feedback link has been provided repeatedly in the eighty pages of this thread. But, no, Apple will generally not respond.
