iPhone XS Max charging super slow

Is anyone else having an issue with their iPhone XS Max taking forever to charge? My old iPhone 7 charged super quick, but this one takes hours to go from 20% to 100%. I’ve restarted it twice and used low battery mode, but nothing seems to help. I just got my phone on Friday, 9/21, and have had this issue since the first day (and, yes, my software is up-to-date).

I have found an alternative. Using the iPad 2.1 amp charger instead of the 1.0 amp wall charger they provide. I have also upgraded to a 2.1 amp juice in car charger lol. More reasons to spend more money on apples products.. not acceptable for the price though I suppose it should be included.

Starting with the iPhone 8 and including X, Xs, Xs Max and Xr;

The ONLY way to fast charge is with a USB-C charger that supports USB-C PD (power delivery) AND a USB-C to lightning cable!

You MUST purchase these two items in order to fast charge.

There is no other way.

The included charger WILL NOT fast charge.

The included cable WILL NOT fast charge.

I have The 10s Max and what i did was go on amazon.com and bought these (Amazon.com: iClever BoostCube 4.8A 24W Dual USB Travel Wall Charger with SmartID Technology, Foldable Plug AC Adapter fo…) and (Amazon.com: iClever BoostCube 4.8A 24W Dual USB Travel Wall Charger with SmartID Technology, Foldable Plug AC Adapter fo…) and believe me, you won't have anymore slow charging issues.. iClever works the same as Apple's products.. GUARANTEED!!!!!

The default power adapter to our new XS Max is just 1.0A, which is way too weak for any smartphone. I am wondering why Apple didn't provide at least a 2.0A adapter. I think the reason may be because of the notion that higher power adapter charges fast, but also depletes the batter. But still 1.0A is very weak, and my XS Max battery just last through a day despite the not-so-heavy usage 😟

Yes I have an I even sent my phone back into o2 for an exchange because I thought it was faulty. I also taken it to an apple store and they tested the voltage and apparently the norm is 1amp. Apparently mine was fluctuating from 0.9 then to 0.0 amps. -.- The apple representative was really apolgetic and said it was a hardware issue. I have replaced the phone for another Xs max and it’s exactly the same!! What is going on

XS Max has a larger physical battery by 274 mAh. So it should take 40 or so minutes longer. On top of that, as you use the iPhone the battery health loses capacity, so eventually you are charging less of the 2900mAh, so it will then charge quicker naturally and that equates to an extra hour or so. iPhone 7 has a smaller physical battery.

Look into fast charging options for the XS Max via USB-C chargers and USB-C to lighting.

Yeah I totally agree that seems to be the case! Because this new battery does seem incredible... especially coming from an iPhone 6 lol! But it was just the hassle of exchanging my phone thinking it was broke and actually being told the amp was down it was all very confusing!! At least our minds are at rest that it’s quite normal now

I was talking to my friend last night and she said she thinks the reason why it takes forever to charge is because the battery lasts a long time (if you're not running a ton of apps all day). She charged her phone on Tuesday and by Thursday evening the battery was still at 55%. She is on her phone a lot, but she just uses social media and messaging apps, mostly. I have a game running on my phone a lot of the time (during my work day lol), so it's draining my battery faster. I guess that's the catch 22: we can have a long battery life, but it will take more than double the time to charge back up. Just a thought!
