Family vacation - This is in regards to Photos on Mac

Very simple real life senecio. This is in regards to Photos on Mac

We just got back from a family vacation, we had two iPhones in use plus a photoshoot with a camera.

I've imported the photos from the two phones, and the photo shoot - which are all times stamped. Side note, unsure if this is relevant, but we were not in our home time zone, so on my phone the original picture moved its' time stamp to my local time, but in photos on mac the time stamp is when the photo was taken local time, while overseas.

I created a photo library just for this vacation. Trouble is, they aren't in order of the of when the photo was taken. The time stamps are there, but they simply aren't falling in order (and I need them to be in order). Could be because there are three devices at play, but i don't usually have this issue. Usually photo simply organized chronologically (photo created).

I can certainly imagine today many out there have this issue. I am not the first person to compile phots from multiple decided into one library.

I tried smart album - did not work.

If the photos with your camera have been taken in a different timezone than the timezone where you imported them, you need to adjust the timezone.

Create a smart album to find all photos taken with your camera:

  • File > New Smart album
  • Set the rule to "camera model is .." and scroll the list of cameras that will appear until you are seeing your camera model.

Now select all photos in this album and use the command "Image > Adjust Date & Time",

On the map, click the timezone where the photos have been taken. At the bottom select the correct "Closest City": The Time adjusted will shift by the timezone offset. Set time adjusted back to the "Original time". Now click the "Adjust" button.

If the photos taken with the camera have GPS coordinates assigned, the procedure is more complicated. Then post back.

If the Date &Time in your camera have not been set accurately, you will have to compensate the time also for the offset of the camera time.
