iPhone XS Max Speaker(in the earpiece) issue

I recently bought iPhone XS Max 64gb silver variant, the front speaker near the earpiece stops working after some use. The earpiece works absolutely fine while making and receiving calls, but while playing any media file, only the bottom speaker works not the top one. This issue is now constantly arising on both my iPhones XS Max variants,

to rectify the issue, I have to restart the iPhone every time to make the top speaker work , until it gets back to dead.

Pls help.

I had a good chat for about 40 mins with the apple senior advisor, then made him talk with the local apple authorised service centre employee, upon agreeing , they both confirmed that Apple is well aware of this issue as they have read on the forum about this issue, He told me to do not go for device replacement or restore as it is a software issue. In the meantime just restart the device till Apple launches a fix in the next iOS update. I was also informed by him that is there is an issue with the entire batch, then apple will come up with a replacement program so as to rectify this issue.

That’s no fix even if it did work. For people that use Bluetooth a lot, does that mean they have to keep it switched off when not in use, to get their phone to work right?

I talked to two Apple senior advisers, one did not admit the problem, the other one did, but never mentioned Bluetooth whatsoever.

The best fix we have is to power your device off and on, or reboot it. My problem is definitely happening less often since iOS 12.1, but other people are having the problem happen more frequently since the update.

I’m also having my signal fluctuate from one bar to four bars sitting in my favorite spot at my house. That may not be the my Xs max but I have read about that happening to other people.

I hear you. Very frustrating because I love the phone also it’s an extremely expensive phone and it just ***** when something doesn’t work properly after you paid all that money. I just finished talking to Apple on twitter and after over an hour of back and forth they want me to go to the Apple store because they suspect it’s hardware related. Only problem is there isn’t an Apple store within an hour of my house. I’m just going to keep restarting the phone for now. Hope a software update comes out. *****

I haven’t tried to use any audio in a day or two, so I just checked it right now. My earphones speaker was out, and I can Confirm that turning it off, and back on, as well as a reboot temporarily fixes the issue. My earpiece speaker seems to go out after a certain amount of time, and a reboot seems to fix it for 24 hours or so. The last time I was on the phone with Apple, a senior advisor said he heard of someone having the same speaker issues after using his AirPods, or some other brand of headphones, via Bluetooth. I usually do not Bluetooth, but I can confirm that at least for me, Bluetooth is not the cause. At least this one senior advisor admitted that there

is at least one other instance of the same problems that we are having. Btw I had my screen name changed recently, but I had posted here several days ago 😬

The apple advisor was talking about me, I was the one who informed them of the issue, I mentioned the bluetooth part, as I noticed the speaker went out after disconnecting my bluetooth device, but that is not the case, it happens periodically, there is no specific time frame as to when the issue will arise after the reboot. It`s most probably a software bug, I submitted my iphone to service centre and was informed that my device has been replaced . The device is yet to be handed over to me, let me have my device back and i`ll keep everyone updated. This week the iOS 12.1 is also coming out, that might take care of this glitch as Apple is still silent on this issue, and I don`t think so, they would accept this.

Guys BIG UPDATE !!!

I got my device replaced, is officially on 12.1, but the speaker issue arises again. I had been connecting Bluetooth earphones with my iPhone XS Max for past 3 days, and yesterday night I noticed that my earpiece speaker was out again. So Apple did not take this issue into consideration and I highly doubt, apple would ever acknowledge this issue and provide a fix.

I thought it fixed it for me but it didn’t it’s doing it way less but the video judder got a bit better as well if u watch movies on he tv app downloaded movies they will stutter frame loss ect the way u fix that issue is to turn off autobrightness seems when the screen tries to dim or get brighter it makes the frame rate go haywire just test it I’m sure u all have that issue as well. Autobrightness has to be on and when playing the movie let the sensor see. Slight change hold the phone from a dark room to a bright room u will see it right away and it won’t stop u have to close out the app re open it and play again and hope the room lighting don’t change again or just leave autobrightness off. What’s crazy is is that autobrightness sensor and the top speaker is on the same module and this is 4th replacement device so I’m wondering if it is a hardware malfunction or a hardware driver issue. We shall see.

It’s worth noting that rebooting your device is only a temporary fix. Could this be a one time fix for certain people? I don’t doubt it, and the way this is acting anything is possible. I also think for the majority of us, rebooting your phone, or doing an off and on again cycle is just a temporary fix.

Mine just went out again, after nearly 2 weeks of working correctly. This phone has been out for over two months and the problem still persists. I’m sure they’ll fix it, but it is very annoying.

Hi, i have a X (not S). The problem is the same. See this:

or

And there many other Threads.

I think it is a bug in iOS or an app is crashing the speaker system...

And no not during calls. I cant hear when starting the call. The earpiece stops working complet. No music, sounds etc. Thats the bug for all here i think.
