Wifi issues on MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6

Has this solved on Mojave release by any chance??

I have MacOS Sierra 10.13.6 and got Wifi Issues, tried all options listed but nothing solves it permanently. Ultimately I end up deleting the plist files whenever I get a slow speed on Wifi followed by a reboot, which is not feasible all the time and really annoying.

Also it's been almost 7 months I am using my MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017, with TouchBar and Touch ID), with same set of home and office Internet/wifi equipments but this problem started recently, not sure if anyone figured out the trigger for this issue.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Why do I have difficulty with Wi-Fi or Bluetooth devices when USB 3 devices are attached to my computer?

Some USB 3 devices can generate radio frequency interference that can cause Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices operating in the 2.4GHz band to have issues communicating with your computer. Here are some tips to avoid this issue:

If your USB device has a cable long enough that you can move the device, place it away from your Mac—and make sure not to place it behind your Mac, or near the hinge of its display. The antennas for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are located there, and USB 3 devices placed there might interfere with your wireless connections.

If you're using adapters or dongles on a Mac computer with Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports, plug them into the front port on the left side of your Mac, or into the ports on the right side (if your computer has them). These ports are the farthest away from the antennas, making interference less likely.

To avoid interference on the 2.4GHz band using Wi-Fi, try using the 5GHz band instead. You can change this on your wireless base station. Bluetooth always uses 2.4GHz, so this alternative isn't available for Bluetooth.

Thanks for replying, AjmalSheikh, and that additional info, it really helps! Since those steps didn't help with your situation, your next step is to contact Apple or your local Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider for further help with your MacBook Pro and Wi-Fi.

Hi chris_g1,

Thanks for responding to my post, I did check all of those posts before opening this discussion. Tried everything but a fresh OS installation of High Sierra, nothing helped so far. I did got another MacBook Pro which doesn't gets this issue. And my Windows Laptops (Dell and Lenovo) never had wifi issues and are working perfect too.

Given the fact that deleting those .plist files solves the problem each time, I reboot almost every other day after deleting them.

Being a network professional, I understand Wifi, Bluetooth and related stuff very well, and have tested all of them extensively w.r.t. my Mac (which has issues), didn't find anything unusual which may indicate any signal interference of Wifi issue. This is definitely an Operating System issue, which I am hoping Apple would have taken care with Mojave release but not sure if it's taken care of or not. So thought of discussing here to see what others have experienced.

After I update and this problem persist, I'll do the troubleshooting exercise again to see if any improvements are there.

I recently noticed that this is not only on wireless, but on wired network too. So definitely an OS problem which is messing with the stack.

All I wanted to know is if anyone had similar issues status/feedback after upgrading to Mojave, so I can decide whether to go for an upgrade or a clean install when I go for Mojave.

I can easily get a replacement for the MacBook Pro but wanted to know WHY is it happening 🙂
